i was super good in this game during the release of this game but i quit in mid 2021 because the game just kept getting worse and worse.

As the previous top 1 player, I would say the game was over well before the pay-to-win update. Shortly after the game was released on Steam, it became flooded with hackers, which ruined not only competitive play but also casual play. Because of this, the player base started to decline and was eventually going to fall off anyway. So, they sold it to a pay-to-win company while it was still worth something.
