I can't get over it. Everything is different－the voice, the accent, the delivery. He's a different character now. The writing going down the drain doesn't help either.
@@raccoonchild 2d used to be an edgy freak and simultaneously an effortlessly endearing geek/nerd, but now he's just a forced "uwu soft boi smol bean 👉👈🥺" (he's suposed to be 44 now, mind you). It's especially apparent in the TikToks they're doing now, like the poem one... Hope they improve the character, bc I geniuenly love Gorillaz and the characters have so much potential.
@@heisenburgerlover He was edgy and stupid but with semi-hidden depths as someone who deeply loved music. He mellowed out throughout the first three Phases but was always layered and 'alive'. Phase 5 had me hooked with its potential but then they did NOTHING with it lol. I'm not strong enough to keep up with Gorillaz nowadays and only listen to the music and watch the videos. Most character interviews post-P3 are forgettable fluff. They never get into the music-making process or nerd out over other artists like before. They have become sanitized and hollow. All the characters got screwed but I just have to point out Noodle became the embodiment of the 'How do you do, fellow kids?' meme 💀 it's sad how this beautiful project has deteriorated over the years. Feels more like a patchwork of good stuff and shitty stuff when it used to be mostly great. I understand how it ended up this way but it doesn't make it any less sad. Sorry for going on a rant, you don't need to reply. ✌️

i think 2D's "new" voice actor is much better suited to his character, especially bc nelson had troubles being consistent and staying in the voice
How? His interpretation reflects barely anything about the character. And just because Nelson had to put in work to 'make' the right voice doesn't mean he didn't do it. The final product was always excellent. The original 2D always felt vibrantly unique and alive.
