I always encourage new players to head to a music store and try as many as they can within their price range. Even if you don't play yet, just holding it in your hands, wrapping your fingers around the fretboard and making sure it feels comfortable. That will be the instrument you play the most! That being said, I do have some personal favorites :) are you looking for acoustic or electric?

For acoustic, hands down my favorite beginner guitar to recommend is the Breedlove Discovery series. These guitars run around $300ish, but you can find deals on sites like Reverb and they punch above their weight class IMO. Yamaha F325D tidd.ly/41AScuV is a solid choice Ibanez Performance Series PC15NT tidd.ly/4iBjmYM is also decent Fender also makes decent beginner acoustics the FA-125CE is similar to one I had awhile back tidd.ly/3VHrahJ I'd stay away from spending less than $150 for a guitar, they typically won't be very easy to play.

Ukulele is a fun instrument to pick up, and it's hard to make it sounds ugly 😉 I always recommend heading to a local music store to try a few out! There are different sizes and woods that produce different sounds
