I do not care if this is a horror anime, Madoka magic is a big comfort for me, it’s music is beutiful, and the story portrays a beautiful message about believing in hope, even when it seems impossible, I’m so exited for the 4th movie to come out, and honestly, this is one of the best and most iconic anime OSTs I’ve ever heard

I only recently discovered this show and this character, but man did they grow on me. I like that they kept him a mystery even until the end. There's not nearly enough shows willing to do that.

The low pitch certainly changes the song.
Was he truly a liar? We see the beast as a beast . Yet his form, that of a Wendigo, a creature created from a lost soul and dark act, the beast could be the ‘woodsmans’ daughter, or just another a child left in the woods of the unknown whose soul now is a parasite on the road. “Youth is such a fragile thing,” indeed. Yet adults too are lost in the Unkown, if so would the beast be lamenting about its own fate?
Maybe i mean , he is the original to carry the light lamp , so was the one who originally make grow up the dark trees with children's souls , the mystery lies in *why his soul was trapped there in first place* Maybe a person who got lost in the woods too , wendigo is kinda tied with *cannibalism and starving* , so could be a thing . Plus the original idea was him being the *devil* itself , the deals , the tormenting , and trick ways without really interfering , show well this inspiration.
@@heylisten4967 Good points, I definitely was thinking the starvation then cannibalism thing was at least present on a metaphorical level. (The dark act) There is something to be said about how oil is used to power the lantern of his soul, I think it’s plausible that the he is indeed the lanterns first owner. Maybe like Greg and his rock he carried it with him from the human world, long long ago. Even the colonial tavern people seem to be aware of him, and if you buy into the whole, the unknown swallows people of different times, perhaps he was a very early colonial who fled into the woods during a time of starvation, like Plymouth, Jamestown or (personal guess) the lost colony of Roanoke.
@@squaregrouuper7284 yes plus the idea in the original tome of unknown , is that he was a thing able to steal faces and absorb children's taking their Memories , he was called the old scratch (old folke name to the devil) he was intended to had a sad past. He might be once a human like you pointed out , maybe one dark tree that gained conciencus , the oldest one , and in order to survive he feeds from the despair (oil) from the trees . Btw the black turtles might have be something to do with that , they are describe as sin and eat them corrupt you. He is similar to an opera singer , and hunter , maybe like you said he was one the first to get there probably around the 16 century , since the oldest house we visit with lorna came from the 17 century ( or before , could be even an indigean)
@@heylisten4967 lots of good points, the old scratch connection is telling. The turtles might imply some part of evil is innate to the unknown and that it itself is harmless until ingested.
@@squaregrouuper7284 yes we could talk about hour on his inspirations , and that is what makes him a very interesting villain the mystery and lack of explanation makes him even more dark and deep .
