Remember professional painters BEFORE you put any product on your deck you need to wash it , power sanding, and specially prime otherwise the product won’t stick like the way it supposed to

Best video on this so far - I just bought a place with a huge deck that had been neglected and/or maintained. Wood was filled with mold and algae - this deck cleaner works! I used full strength, the broom that you have and even got on my hands and knees in some areas. I want to do this right for easier maintenance later. I did use a hose attachment that kind of mimicked a pressure washer my bad. Will wait for it to dry before I start painting and do it brush first and then roller second just like you. I learned alot just doing the railings and ledges first. It takes alot of work - it is not hard but labor and time intensive but will be worth it.

You were lucky. I spent enormous time with prep work and used Behr deck stain. It all peeled off in the first year. I will never use Behr stain again.

Thank You for making these instructions clear. So many make negative statements about these types of products and almost every time its because of not following instructions and lack of prep. Even the timing and planning around the weather is so important. It is very difficult to get anything to adhere for a long period of time to wood that has moisture changes in it. But it can be done if the instructions are followed and the prep is done.

It's just a non-breathable plastic coating. Once water gets underneath, it will push the paint off. It's nothing special.

Great but set the protruding nails below the surface.

This is the best tutorial that I have seen for redoing a deck. Thank you for all of your hard work and effort in putting this together.

any current updates??? i am in the same position, i used deck over about 10years ago, and its shot.....

I like to roll on and use a giant 4-1/2” stain brush and mop it in the cracks and lay it down. Works great Hitting big cracks before helps too

well my friend i can tell from experience (30 yrs) you SCRUBBED n SCRUBBED really hard. you could n should have done it easier by putting alot more of that wood cleaner on and having a wet surface much like washing dishes and then scrub n the results would have been infinitely easier on you but given your results looked great you must have worked incredibly hard at the scrubbing part. Congrats cause u did a great job ... but for the majority of people looking to learn apply significantly more product ie either with a watering can which many people already own or with a garden pump sprayer at least 1 gl or better 2 gal in size. ... yes still scrub but you don't have to be 35 or younger n a non stop extreme worker lol

Go to bank and get the money to remove these boards that are already 20 years old and install a high quality composite deck materials . What you are doing here will last about 1-2 years max.

Do not use this product. It will bubble up and peel within a year, other areas will keep the moisture in and ruin the wood, had to replace several boards to extend the life of my deck then I gave up after two years lost the battle had to rebuild a new deck. Cost me $3K.

Please don’t use this stuff it will leave your deck a disaster, I also think there is a class action law suit for this junk.

There are so many videos of people who had bad experiences, even though I would love to use it if it worked, I may just switch to regular Behr solid stain from the Behr semi-transparent I have used for the last 25 years on my deck. (It sounds logical from what you found re: getting enough product in between the boards, since many just use a roller.....think getting in between the boards has saved my deck in lasting this long too.) Thanks for the video. (BTW...I noticed I don't see any recent videos so hope all is OK with you.)

Behr deckover decreases the lifespan of any exterior wood exposed to the elements. I am a home inspector and I have seen this stuff rot decks rapidly. The thick coating traps moisture in the wood causing wood to rot rapidly. They have been in a law suit. I highly recommend reconsidering this product.

Where did you get that little bimini from? I've tried anchorshade before, yours looks better.

All.these people crying over there deck over product, are people who put it on too early and did not let there deck dry completely before using the product, so when you cover over a wet board, and then it tryst to dry pushing out the wet and making the deck over peel off. Your deck like you said was 20 years old super dry, and the product worked perfectly

Nothing says "i should have replaced the deck" faster than a behr finish!
