Dynamic vs Static Stretching
What’s the difference between static vs dynamic stretching?
Dynamic Stretching:
* Involves active movements.
* Engages the nervous system, waking up the muscles.
* Improves neuromuscular coordination.
* Beneficial before any physical activity.
* Warms up tissue temperature reducing risk of soft tissue injury
Static Stretching:
* Involves holding a stretch for a prolonged period.
* Provides deep, focused elongation of muscle fibers.
* Can be a meditative practice, helping to breathe through discomfort and release tension.
* Suitable if movement is painful, as it does not involve motion.
* Great for down regulating overactive nerves.
Neither one is better than the other.
They both are different tools yo...

Cracking The Idea of Pain's Permanence
Просмотров 3564 месяца назад
If you’ve been in pain for a long time, there’s a sense of permanence to it - it becomes the norm in the mind. There is a motion you do, that most likely is your go too if you want to find pain, symptoms, or sensations. And because we do this motion, and run into this feeling, it becomes a predictable consistent thing - and further is rooted in the mind as being permanent. This can often feel l...

The Problem with Before and Afters
Просмотров 3125 месяцев назад
Have you ever scrolled through social media and seen those before-and-after photos that make transformation look so easy, almost like magic? They're everywhere, showing off dramatic changes in fitness, health, or even lifestyle. At first glance, it's inspiring - it makes us believe that significant change is just a snap of the fingers away. But here's the thing: those photos most of the time ar...
Exercise Order Matters
Просмотров 2705 месяцев назад
Let’s give my new assistant a round of applause! Exercise order matters. I first learned this theory through The National Academy of Sports Medicine Corrective Exercise Program back in 2012. It made so much sense, yet never showed up when experts tried to help me after breaking my back. It felt like they just threw a lot of exercises at me hoping something would help. It felt like that because ...

Wisdom Is Found In Routine
Просмотров 1815 месяцев назад
Through routine repetition of simple, gentle movements, we're not only taking care of our physical self but also tuning into the subtle shifts within us. This attunement allows for a kind of wisdom that goes beyond just the physical; it's about recognizing what nurtures us, what harms us, and adapting accordingly. Wisdom like this doesn't come from sporadic or grandiose efforts but from the qui...

    I just did the 4-day back challenge, and it was a challenge for me. The significant emotionally-charged insight I got was that the pain cumulative injury cycle you explained describes exactly what is commonly "diagnosed" as Fibromyalgia. I have spent so many years caught in that cycle, and yes, wasted a lot of money on treatments and programs. For now, I'm going to do the work I learned from you during the challenge and include this beginner-routine in the work. When I can establish communication and begin to experience real change, I will consider becoming part of the movement program. Thank you so much for the information, wisdom and experience you are sharing.

    I hope it helps too. I have often had the same thoughts about pain wondering. Why it can go dependant upon focusing elsewhere.. or finding yourself focusing elsewhere and not noticing it for a second.... That being said i did think if im in the midst of pain i dont know that this thought will help or not.. Ill keep you posted if it happens

    Im doing it. But it doesn't necessarily feel like an exercise . It just feels tight and limited.like it's not helping to stretch anything but more show what im not capable of Or am.. Are u sure this is an exercise and not just a hip test of some sort..

      If you do this and it’s tight… might be working. It’s a dynamic stretch so it might not feel like it’s stretching but it is

    your "Hip and pelvis rotating together😅 technique of pushing hip open while foot flat on the floor may just save my life?. I hope .... ( i don't know what the hell is wrong with me.. i just know my hip feels sore in certain positions and doesnt have the same range as motion or Wont opening the same as the other side!!! ... Are there any other techniques that do the same thing aa exercise 2!? That was FANTASTIC.. AND WHATEVER IT'S EXERCISING OR STRETCHING I NEED TO KNOW EXACTLY..

    I've subscribed to the one-year movement program. I'm loving it and think there is great intelligence behind it. We want functional movement, and that won't come about by addressing only one part of the body that seems to be "the problem." Q. In the program, the very first exercise is "prone airplane," similar to what's here, except that not one of the three positions in this video is taught. Instead, it's lie on stomach, have arms on blocks, and arms are at right angles to shoulders, with forearms on the blocks. I'm wondering why you have picked that one prone airplane position, in your latest program?, and not any of the three in this intro video? Thanks!

      @PainAcademy 3 месяца назад

      Hey! Welcome!!! The one taught in the program has a more down regulating affect to relax muscle imbalance! This is more active. I start people off with less intensity to ease the body into better function - hope that helps!
