I taped it on a VHS from HBO & watched it repeatedly - Lance Guest was also great in Halloween II, which I was lucky enough to see in the theatre thanks to my supercool parents. @@3576alan It was based on a great story by Barry B. Longyear, & exemplifies how 2 living beings can overcome their differences & work together for the common good - a lesson we could all learn from. The underlying subtext speaks of racial differences & shows them to be as petty as they truly are in the face of adversity & cosmic indifference. Director Wolfgang Petersen (known for the classic Das Boot) took a major risk in adapting it, & chose 2 fine actors (Dennis Quaid & Louis Gossett, Jr.) to flesh out the characters. It remains a definitive statement on the value of life & how precious it really is, regardless of race. something we all can learn from.

Also Electric Eels, The Monks, The Fall - proto-punk & even No Wave - among others like Ramones, Misfits, The Cramps, The Pixies, Nirvana, Swans, Godflesh etc. Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, Ventures, Troggs, all kinds of stuff. Darkside was started by the creators of Creepshow, who were inspired by the earlier Tales From The Crypt comics & 70's movie, and it was after Darkside had been on for a few seasons that someone decided to start the Crypt tv series also in the late mid-80's. It's awesome that they're all related in some way. I have the complete Darkside series on dvd, highly recommend it. The show Monsters was also made by the same people.
