They dont do it on catch up but I could have watched it if I had a smart phone - which I dont......................................so you saved my bacon as this is a simply brilliant series!! Had been looking forward to seeing this fine old series again, particularly as an "escape" from the horrors of our present world. Sadly disappointed, as the video quality is so poor as to be unwatchable. Such a pity as I'm sure that many (older) viewers would have welcomed this, especially those, like myself, who share the delights & advantages of RUclips Premium

I an really fond of 'Planty'... such a decent, upright fellow. A bit stiff, yes, but with a heart of gold.

Love this. The oldies are the best. But must admit, this last one was rather funny, had us in stitches, up, until the end. But it made us realise, isn’t it best to know when you are going to die by hanging and know it will be over in seconds or minutes, unlike dying naturally that you have to lay there for no one knows how long until your last breath. I held my mums hand from 7.30pm until 7.15am until she died. that is a long time dying.

The old TV ones are the best. How an idiotic poor man cane ruin his life over a rich Tramp.

"Samson" is so miscast - he sits on a wall next to Werner and his feet don't reach the ground, he's a hobbit not a spy.

When they cast Brideshead Revisited (1981) they must have thought Anthony Andrews & Jeremy Irons a shoe in : virtually the same roles including the romance with the sister….but did Evelyn Waugh when he wrote them I wonder?

I saw this BBC series in the 70s.I also read the book.It really was excellent in both genres.

Judy Parfitt, played Alice, Ralph Gorse's last victim. Most recently, she brilliantly played the nun with dementia, on "Calling The Midwife".

This is a good reminder that the seventies weren't all about disco. There was a massive folk surge. Groovy!

Some years after this Nigel Havers went on to play a similar swindling rascal in Coronation Street.

Oh what an absolute gem ! , Even after 50 years this remains a jewel in the crown of this acoustic masters formidable back catalogue.The music is timeless and just simply flows from the genius that was Bert Jansch who will aways remain a significant artisan or the acoustic guitar.
