Planting small grain and combining some beans
Nevermind, I flipped all the way over...👍👍😂
Neat! Are you using wagons, or "wagon body" trucks?
I used to do that concrete silos when I was 1718 I’m 68 now I used to work for forger silos we built a couple we’re 100 feet air very hard job I know what you guys go through in a day😅
We'll just add a little concrete to this steel
Wow.. impressive work.. I owned a big farm with a giant old silo on it and always wondered how it was built… I would bet money it is still there!!
Is that Massanutten Mountain in the background?
Yup
Those guys are fearless. I get weak knee just watching
It takes a certain kind of person to do that job.
Love your silo video 😊
No fall protection or safety harnesses? Crazy
Once you fall, your done 😊
Falling doesn't hurt. It's the landing that is the problem.
I was guessing slip forming but that's more of a sectional hopscotch. Thanks for sharing
How do they disconnect the lower panels before they lift them up?
Slow down the playback speed. You will see a guy lowed down on a cable to unclip the forms. No sweat!!!
Very cool. Thanks
Often wondered how that was done, I wonder no more :)
I can't stop watching this video 😁 Can you tell me what this construction technology is called? Slipform Silo?
They are using concrete forms. I don't think slipforms would work on this type of silo.
Hi! Great content quality, it’s a pleasure to watch! If you ever want to experiment with editing or add new features, feel free to reach out - I’d be happy to help! Wishing you luck and inspiration!
Hello. Could you help me financially expand my agriculture-related project? With this money, I would purchase the equipment necessary for harvesting livestock feed and cultivating the land. If you want to help me. In the description of the channel, the mail is indicated. Write there. Thank you.🙏🙏🙏☺️😔
I’m glad to see a silo going up. It’s sad to see so many that have been torn down and are being torn down.
Smart farmers build silos
Smart farmers build what suits them for today, and for years to come. I think Ryan explained it very well.
Cool😀
3 pours a day wow. Hard to believe the plant accomdate that
Enjoyed the Silo build and just subscribed.
👍
Kudos to the band, I could never play air guitar for a week straight, let alone a real guitar!
The 1 thing I observed was the white dog just laying there for most of the pour. Someone needs to play with the dog. 😊😊
Why not slipform it?
I don't know of anyone who uses slipforms to build a silo.
@@ryanheatwole165 Thanks. 40 years ago I work on a coal silo in Colorado. They set the top beams across the form, built a deck and put a big hydraulic pumphouse on the top to lift the form. We poured for 8 days straight. Once the form lifted off the ground, it didn't stop until we hit the top. Filled the form from a crane and bucket with georgia buggies and the bar guys had to keep up...I was young then!
I was a little worried until I saw the safety net installed 😬
Pretty cool. I've never seen how a poured silo was built, only the 3 stave silos we built. Will there be a feed conveyor running through the concrete trough next to the silo footing?
Yes except that we are going to try using an auger instead of a conveyor.
Augusta, or Rockingham County? Y'all aren't far from Stuarts Draft, are you?. I think I have been by your place.
Rockingham county. We are about 30 miles northeast of Stuarts Draft
Wow, those guys work fast!😂 Have you looked at getting cellular phone antenna mounted on the new silo's? May add some revenue for you.
We have thought about that before but we would have to figure out who to talk to about it. We could use it, cellular connection isn't very good around here.
a bunker silo would be better ?
Depends what your layout is or what your already setup for
Also easier to automate feeding with uprights.
Nice to see tower silos being built. Wondering how many tons of corn silage will it take to fill it?
Around 2,500 tons
@@ryanheatwole165 wow that is a lot of feed. Thanks for your reply.
Where are you located??😊
Farm name is Cub Run Dairy
@@ryanheatwole165 Thanks 😊
I saw a few like this being built on another channel, and the thing I still can't quite figure out, is how do they get that bottom form loose to raise it up, and how do they get the cables hooked to it to lift it. I really can't see on the video how they are doing that.
Great to see another silo built for you, how many together will you have now? Keep up the good work and looking forward to see more about silos from you. Wish you all best from Europe, also filling uprights here, but much smaller.
We will have 7 concrete silo and one stave silo.
Didn't think anyone was putting up new vertical silo's. Impressive.
The 10th Generation Dairyman just had three new silos built this year
In Wisconsin they are still going up! Can't beat upright storage!
@@bryanginder5903 So why are most farms using bunkers?
@@raincoast9010 most? No. Just the large ones, 1 using up land does not matter to them. 2 they want speed of loading over quality.
@@bryanginder5903 most, yes, in my area there are small farms and none of them use upright silos. I think it's about how little feed fits in them. 130 cow dairy, uses a bunker, no upright silos in sight in my area.
Looks like the same crew that built mine in June. I put a Spiromax unloader in mine this week.
I think they only have one concrete silo crew so if yours is concrete then it is probably the same crew. We're going to put in a Valmetal Hybrid unloader.
Spiro max isa good unloader save on. Electric
What silo unloader will you be putting in this silo?
Valmetal Hybrid
What blower will you use to fill?
@robbt9779 Fieldline FL440
Where are Y'all located in Rockingham County? Will you have enough corn silage this year to maintain the herd? I know it's been dry.
Cub Run Dairy is the farm name. It been pretty dry but we have enough corn under irrigation that we should be fine.
@@ryanheatwole165 I know where you are. Didn't know y'all were going to put up another upright. Good luck with the new system you are putting in! Can't wait to see it!
Thanks
@@MorganOtt-ne1qj so are you located near them?
@@tylerheatwole3428 I'm on the other side of the Blue Ridge, but I was in the area for a week last year. Went by the place but didn't connect it with the channel.
That was a massive pour, hope you got a quantity discount? Were the dimensions of the foundation specified by the silo company? Thanks.
The foundation is 4 feet deep by 8 feet wide which held 120 yards of concrete.
Great. Seeing an 8:30 start time each day, finishing up 5-7, around here I see 10ish to 3 ish, wondering why they aint making money
That was us. The silo crew is supposed to start on Wednesday so we will see what they're time schedule is
What is the trench leading up to the silo with the concrete walls for?
It's for an auger to take silage over to the conveyor belt at the other silos.
Asking about different things is a great thing.
You guys really work quickly! 😂 however, I am now intrigued to see how this turns out! ( #94 sub, let’s go 👍)
👍
Is that the "Ultra Command" transmission, or the later powershift?
It has the powershift transmission
Was the feed salvaged
No the concrete was mixed all through it so our mixer wouldn't have liked it very well
@ryanheatwole165 oh ok hope you had lots to replace the feed
At 32 x 140 how many tons does this store? Who built it? I have seen a new silo being built in years
It holds approximately 3,000 tons. It was built by the company now known as keystone silos
How many cows are you milking.
Around 650
Tallest silos ive ever seen!!
concrete loses its strength because it is not watered
The rebar rusted and separated from the concrete
Is there much price difference between a concrete and a steel one?
As far as I know no one around here builds steel ones so I don't know
why are farmers going back to upright silos, i assumed everyone was going bunker ?
It takes up less space and has less waste and it takes less equipment and less people to fill a silo and it doesn't have the plastic waste that a bunker has and some farms are setting up robot feed systems and silos work better for that
Do you have any photos of the foundation prior to pouring it? Also, what is the size of this silo?
I am not sure if I have any photos of the foundation I will have to check. Also the silo is 30 feet by 140 feet
That is a big silo. Is it a top un-loader or bottom? Also just wondering what the foundation depth is and how its reinforced, i.e. rebar. @@ryanheatwole165
it is a top unload. The foundation is 10 feet wide and 5 feet deep and the only rebar it has is rods running into the walls
