Everything along that line needs to be replaced. I think the Goat Canyon trestle would probably need to be replaced as well as everything is rotting away.

32:21 A flat loaded with brand new Western Electric KS-15676 microwave antennæ , possibly headed to Phoenix Main. AT&T's Bell System was accelerating expansion of their nationwide nicriwave radio network to meet toll traffic demands of those times. I used to work on that stuff.

Coos Bay #11 is lucky to still be around today in preservation, with the exception of it’s sibling #10 unfortunately. It could’ve been in operation at the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad in Garibaldi, Oregon rather than being scrapped.

Men that’s long ago the bridge and tunnels were fresh back then but now land sides and other things the old rail line needs ton of work if they want it to get it working for example making the tunnels wider and bigger trains just get longer bigger taller.

I grew up with the SD&AE. I remember watching a crew with a local witha steam engine, likely a consolidation, switching the fuel track at Palm City A hazy memory, but very clear. The crew did a drop of the tank car in the siding at Palm City, then ran ahead throgh the crossover pnto the main track in a burst of steam, smoke and clattering driving rods and wheels. I was fascinated eatching the brakeman manhandle the switch so quickly to send the tank car down the spur. Aflter the engine cleared onto the main track at the East end of the siding, the tank car rolled by onto the fuel spur. Then the engine went back into the siding fron the main track and shoved the tank car over the street crossing with a lot of stack noise and whistling all the way to the fuel company dock. What a great show, and I could not have been more than 3 years old I now live in Texas and know a fellow here whose father worked for the SD&AE.
