good music in the background
Music is a full throw back 🤯
Got a quick question, just installed my shg slider and i made sure i greased the part up, now when i drive my steering wheel doesnt automatically go back to center after i make turns. Am i missing something?
I have a similar issue. Did you ever find a solution?
don't be afraid go ahead and road force test it since it's a brand new tire
We only roadforce it if the tire balances way off from what we understand it should balance at. If you look at the vibration chart, it will indicate if it has so much vibration to force match it. at that point, we will roadforce it.
Wish the mechanics in my area knew wtf I was talking about when I said "steering rack slider" lmao
Messaging ?
Thank you a lot for the Video + Gotta admit the Playlist in the Background is absolute 🔥
Just used an adjustable wrench and creativity and got the inner tie rods off(having no air box and aftermarket header helps a lot). Remove all chassis stiffeners that you can (upper by strut tops and lower below steering rack). Pb blaster and soak the stuff before you start.
Was that static balanced?
no, there's sometimes an option the balancer will give so you only have to put weight in one spot on a dynamic balance. Static would be 0.00oz as the "OK"
My Cd5 says invalid application size, nothing I do will erase it or change it (after uploading a generic screen) Is there a way to factory reset the screen/ firmware
you're awesome, I love you
Hi. Did it fix the knocking ? I have 2002 civic es7 (esp steering) and I have knocking problem.
Civic ep3 . I have removed rack . Greased, derlin slider. Rack raiser . Adjusted tension on the rack its self. (40mm nut) new tie rods. Ball joints. Shocks springs top.mounts tyres. Engine mounts, Full alinement and it has made no difference. On straight roads I am constantly correcting the steering . Going fast on straight roads its dangerous feels floaty. It's great on the corners though . I then bought another 2nd hand Rack and done the same to it. There is no change ..help anyone? What am I missing . Car is running 225/45/17 all round standard alloys wavetrak lsd
WOW, contact SHG ASAP. and ask them the question. For us it made a difference, but we did not have rack raisers.
Could the actual gears inside the rack that move the slider have worn out teeth?
I would remove the rack raiser asap.. it's doing more bad than good
Tyres. Have heard a lot of people say a tyre with stiffer sidewall makes a big difference
I was missing one of the bolts that hold the subframe in since I bought my ep3 I found out when I did the clutch. I still have a problem though bc I haven’t pulled my rack
Dave the real MVP
I just replaced my whole steering rack and I put this slider in as well. Questions for y’all is your steering wheel really stiff now?
yes, but make sure the slider has grease or it will feel to firm
That slider is not "the biggest issue", the biggest issue is the retarded placement of that steering rack being so high causing the inner tie rods to bend upwards when the vehicle is lowered. This is the worst design on any suspension I've ever seen.
Would a bad slider cause steering wheel shake? Most suspensions components have been replaced, aligned and balanced and my steering still does not work.
No. a bad slider gives a knock in the steering rack. vibration is given either by a poorly balanced wheel or an internal CV axle (most often on the left side, because the drive is shorter and has a greater load than the right).
You might want to check your engine and transmission mounts.
I have all the bushings installed for the front. Now, I have problem installing the Compression Rod (rearward control arm), strut, lower control arm, upper control arm and tie rod end (outer). Can you tell me what to install in order?
Call the shop please.
Thanks, really helpful.
You're welcome!
Socket size used to press out bushing?
I don't remember what size it is. We have a press kit.
Excellent video. Also, great to know someone other than me still listens to Good Charlotte, lol.
About to try to tackle this on my Ep3. This was SUPER helpful. Thanks guys!
Glad it was helpful!
Great vid, looking forward to seeing more uploads. This deserves way more views, I’d recommend using smzeus . c o m to help rank your videos!
Holy crap man...you are terrible at auto mechanics bud, I’ve never cringed so many times watching a single instructional video in my life...from the guy narrating not knowing what tf he’s talking about to watching you fumble with that 28mm nut on the smaller stud and taking 2 minutes to pry off an E clip...holy shit man...and you work at a chassis shop?! The only thing I learned from watching this video is to not take my shit to NORCAL chassis...ever. Lol. Edit: and not only all that but you couldn’t be bothered to clean shit before you work on it? I would’ve pressure washed the whole front axle before rolling it into the shop to disassemble. Just my opinion though.
Nice! I'll be receiving my CD7 soon so this was a nice introduction to the software.
Have fun!
My 06 rsx im hearing a knocking sound when I drive is it the slider or i nerd a hold new steering rack
@@norcalchassisworks I have all those symptoms my car was parked for almost 8 months I changed the outer tie rods, engine mounts and rebuild the front coilovers now when I lock my wheel left my car is RHD I can shack the steering rack from under the left side wheel well where there's a bolt the racks makes the noise when I shack it or if I drive on a bumpy road
OMG 1 year ago. I wish you would have emailed us.
what tool did he use to loosen the boot clamp
GEAR HEAD flat head lol didnt you see?
I'm going to do mine this weekend. Solo of course so we'll see how that goes. I have an all factory civic ex and opted to stay with factory parts. Thanks for the video
Got it done. It took me about 3 hours by myself and all hand tools. It fixed 90% of the problem but still have small vibration in the wheel at high speed. Check steering again after alignment and still have small amount of play in rack. I'll drive it for a while then replace the rack.
Would you recommend the delron rack slider or rack raiser to alleviate issues? Or maybe have both installed together? Just looking to correct steering and have the best performance possible. Thanks.
@@norcalchassisworks would there be any benifit in doing the rack raise thing even if stock height.
@@norcalchassisworks yea my tie rods are still on a bit of an angle at stock height. would probably sit nice and flat raised 30mm at the rack. should fix some of the bump steer yea? im doing the delrin rack slider and cleaning out the rack and re greasing it coz its a bit sticky and doesnt allways return to centre on its own.
@@dylanwilliams3807 You don't want your tie rods to sit flat on the DC5/EP3
@@4bangermafia glad someone else is spreading the truth. OEM tie rods sit at an upward angle already. Rack riser is unnecessary. The slider is good to upgrade but the RCA ball joints are what fixes alot of issues
Thanks again for this video. I got my SHG slider installed. I had to do it alone. If anyone reads this tries to do it themselves. Once you get the rubber dust boot off the steering rack slider - the steering wheel is free to move to full lock and stay there. The rubber boot is what pulls your steering wheel away from full lock - once it's free from the boot, it can go to full lock. So free the steering rack slider from the rubber boot. Go inside vehicle. Turn wheel to full lock, go to the opposite side off the boot, and pull the old slider out just like what was shown in this video. Install is opposite of removal.
Just got the inner tie rods and bracket off with the rack still in the car. WHAT A NIGHTMARE. The EM2 has a cross brace that mounts to both frame rails that runs underneath the tie rods. Had to remove that, the airbox, the throttle body, unmount the heater core valve from the bulk head, move the engine harness out of the way. Time to get that slider out and replace it with this SHG Motorworks one. Still waiting on new locknut washers from Honda. I got daVinci racing OEM tie rods that are machined for more adjustability. Can't wait to have her back together. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!!!!
I know it’s been a while since you commented, but did your em2 feel better with the delron slider? Is it worth taking everything apart?
Thanks so much for this video. After installing a huge difference was realized! Going for wheel alignment now.
how do you know if you need one or not, my car slide all over the place when you acel and decel. ( i have ktuned inverted tie rod )
That's why I didn't do the inverted tie rods. I think the bump steer gets worse. Instead I have shorter arms, roll center adjuster and caster bushings. I run -1mm toe out and 3,5 camber
Just got this done on my rsx. Oh man it really did fix my problem. Even the slightest of turns would make the knocking sound. And now it's gone just like that. Thanks for the video.
SoJ1RoTV damn I just did this and I still have the knocking sound..
@@fastlikeanascar09 you must have a different problem like a tie rod or ball joint??? I had my mechanic look at mines and everything was fine so the only choice was the slider for me. Good luck
SoJ1RoTV I changed out everything inner and outer tie rods and ball joints I think it might just be the rack and pinion it’s self😪
@@fastlikeanascar09 how's the control arms?
SoJ1RoTV control arms looks ok might change that and the sway bar link bushing and the control arms next and hopefully it’ll go away
Do you def need two people to do this?
What symptoms occur when you have a faulty rack slider? My DC5 Type R is all over the joint over the road even with a full geo set up the other day...
How long did they last be for the rebuild
Honestly it's up to how much of the ball joints are being used. Off-road or street. But my friend in the video, he had to rebuild them every 3 months, because he does rock-crawling.
@@norcalchassisworkswas thinking of getting these but they seem like a pain . Might get metal cloak instead
left handed senang lah... cuba right handed like mine... kau rase?
Thanks for posting did the replacement on my daughters Cr-V and my son's Ep3; here is a link to an upgraded BRASS part www.ebay.com/itm/Heavy-duty-steering-slider-EM2-EP3-DC5-EPS/273828729745?hash=item3fc176d391:g:cRwAAOSw8PJb4cQ3&frcectupt=true
Brass is not a good idea for this, it could wear the aluminium channel in the rack. The reason the slider is plastic is so it's the consumable instead of the rack itself. Just like how engine bearings are made from soft metals so they wear instead of wearing the much more expensive crankshaft.
I hear you’re suppose to take the whole rack out to clean off the old grease
SoHondaGarage.
Is that an aftermarket arm or OEM? I'm worried that aftermarket arms could possibly have different bushing diameter than OEM
they are all the same
I bought cheap compression rod but change bushing with Whiteline. Of the 4 bushing only one fit right then. I have to file it for about 15 minute each end using a Dremmel before I can insert the Whiteline bushing (polyurethane). I salvaged the lower control arm but changed all the bushing and ball joint
can't wait to get rid of the stupid slap in my steering rack, a required replacement for all k20 cars with this rack
You sure seem to talk about diagnosing ball joints a lot... I heard you damaged a customer's ball joints recently. Isn't that a pretty steep mistake for someone that claims to do professional alignments?
Any info on intermittent loss of power steering (EPS) My 2002 civic is fine when stationary but when driving the steering goes hard. EPS light does not come on but will come on if cars stationary and idling for a while! tia
Can't be more obvious the camera man has no idea what he is doing. Maybe a nice guy and good promoter but completely in over his head.
😂😂😂 i found that out today!! I was not about to start pulling all those panels to get to the rear bolts
Did you get vibration problems when accelerating after install? I have a 2012 accord coupe and same bc coilovers. After going for a test ride i felt a slight vibration around 20mph and it goes away within 5 second. If inlet off the gass it also stops vibrating. Some say its the cv axle that has seated its groove and now after lowering it obviously the geometry of the suspension changed and also my cv axle is the problem?? Its not even dropped that low. The front i can still fit 2 fingers. I checked over all the bolts as well
B E any shot u have the link to the coil overs?
Why did you ground the 3rd wire..? Just clip that wire out. That wire is the high beam for the low beam light, Zenki’s use a double wire bulb, Kouki’s use a singe wire bulb. In other words it only needs 2 wires to power it up. If you want the low beam light to stay on when using high beams use a relay.
My 2001 Civic needs this slider really bad. Do you have the part in stock?
It is possible to do yourself! rather simple! i managed to make it happen solo easily :D
Wowwwww!
All the camera dude did was talk while the other guy did all the work. Don't know what he's yapping about.
It was getting the tie rods back on that was the hard part for me and nobody really shows that part
