Building a Sinclair ZX81 DIY PSU Lead

Building a Sinclair ZX81 PSU Lead I had a ZX81 to test but no power supply or leads for it. So here is a video build for a DIY power lead and testing the ZX81 with the power lead. There were two ZX81 power supplies. The first was a UK700 which could provide a DC current of 700mA or 0.7A and the bigger UK1200 which could provide a DC current of 1200mA or 1.2A. The ZX81 used a 3.5mm jack connecto...

does any1 here know if the Dragon 32 emulator XRoar can access the pc hard disc drive?? so it can directly run software (games/programs) from the hard drive? thanks.................
hello good video do you know about a game called grand prix for the dragon 32 ? ? it was a type in game from a book from 1982 or 1983 thanks
Hi, What sort of a (USB probably) power supply do you need to power this ? 🤔😕 Because it is rated at 65 W (I think)... Thanks ! 🤗 Best Regards, David
Edit: Yeah I checked... a 65 W PD adapter is preferred to have (20.0 V, 3.25 A) - with a USB type-C connectpr on the end. 🤔😏
The hotplate on these is actually a PCB by the looks of it but it heats more evenly than any other hotplate ive seen with my thermal imager
Thanks I didn't know these had a setup menu
Thanks for the video! How did it turn out when using it, and in comparison with your other one?
Maybe it is a DTU, these were used in the 90s for leased lines using frame relay technology.
anxiously awaiting your review of this hot plate!
Same here!

It looks fantastic to me, it probably was made for the automation of production processes and I assume one connector is for the terminal and the other is to be connected to whatever they wanted to control. On the PCB I do not see dipswitches, so it is a guess on what baud-rate to communication port is working. There are more manufacturers that produced things that are now at this moment undocumented, there was a documentation but this was stored in the office and when the machine was redundant it was put in a box leaving the documentation at it its place. Later on, the documentation was thrown away, because the machine was no longer in use. You can analyse the EPROM, often programmers leave some text in it to remember what version of the programme it is.
Just need a serial to USB lead to a laptop and get it powered on!
Got one of these (marketed in the states at TS1000) for Christmas 1982! The price had dropped from the introductory price of $100 to $40. For storage, I used my brother's shoebox cassette recorder that he'd jury-rigged with a line in/out cable a couple years before for his rather pricier TRS-80 model 1. Only the microphone wasn't disconnected, so you had to be very quiet when saving something. Most remarkable thing about this to me is its tokenised BASIC. Have to be terribly clever when you want to offer a high level coding experience with 2k total RAM! I do recall making a clock app with it that I fine tuned to losing something like only half an hour a day. Also, the membrane keyboard, bevel and rubber feet made it the absolute best doorstop ever invented.
Just got my hands on one for £100 with games. Cant wait to get gaming on it again as it was my first ever computer
Totally agree about the joy of near instant on of old computers. Only down side was the 4 or 5 minute program loading time from a cassette tape.
Modern computers boot fast if they can do so in 25 seconds. Dragon 32 is running as soon as your finger leaves the power button!
Look at that 13 amp plug, no insulation on the pins! Those were the days.
That's what I need. Can't get them.
