Wow, how long have you been a ‘mechanic’ , very impressed, all great stuff. I highly recommend the Minispares subframe - MS45D or MS45LATE (currently out of stock). Half the price of genuine and that rust will just come back on that old one (time and money wasted), trust me, been there done that. Also join the ‘the mini forum’, £5. tell mini spares and they’ll give you 7.5% discount on everything (except sales items) - I’m not affiliated, just love minis (it’s a problem 🤣
Short and sweet. Great vlog 👍
Hi, great vlog. FYI the sills are bead welded in the factory (so no spot welds as such), so is the roof and the seams on the four corners of the car. The bead weld is a semi continuous weld and a right pain. Also MIG stands for metal inert gas, TIG is tungsten inert gas. Any inert gas will work, some are better than others. Gonna watch your other vlogs now. 👍
in Romania the washer fluid for sure is not part of the servicing
Diesel Mazda, are they reliable?
@isaackent2355 highly. Touch wood I've never had an issue. Super comfy, nice to drive and powerful
Every car lover loves a wee Mini classic great project and content 👌

@@joost072 Thank you
Love the quality of the videos and detail laura. Keep up the amazing work! Cant wait for the next video
@@Gameoholicshow Thank you!
Absolutely amazing video and glad the car got a nice clean afterwards, can’t wait for the next video
@@SyRetro Thank you!
Way to go! Content, detail and confidence all of professional standard after only 3 videos. Replace all parts hard to get to when the subframe is in place. Do everything properly once and Paddington will repay you for many years to come. Keep the videos coming, I’m feeling very nostalgic. A well presented reminder of my youth. Thank you.
Good work, would have removed the bootlid first to give you better access inside the boot. Personally, i wouldnt bother with shotblast and powdercoat, just wire wheel it back to bare metal, some rust treatment and a few coats of black smooth hammerite does the same job and is cheaper. Would recommend using uprated orange polybushes though on your mounts when you rebuild it, id also do the same to to the radius arms, get them repinned and replace all the moving parts.
@@karlgt9989 Thank you for the tips ☺️
1/8 thats a good score, same as I got on the MPI mini 👍
Good stuff, well presented. 👍
Awww thank you so much 😮🎉
Great video
Thank you!
Another great video , can’t wait for the next one
Thank you James 🎉🎉
Love your videos Laura, we played this one in the car for the kids and that’s a lot of views on all your socials
Thank you so much! I hope they enjoyed it 🎉❤
Great video and already looking forward to the next episode, you’ve got this!
Thank you Sy 🎉🎉🎉
@@Lauras.workshop🎉🎉more videos on the way as well as more exciting projects in the future 😊
I have the same MIG welder and love it. With the variable voltage it’s very easy to adjust for the thin metal on the mini
@@Conor.Twomey It's amazing. The TIG welder is even more impressive I must admit
Thanks for the tips! I am literally about to embark on the same journey of cutting and welding for the first time on my mini!
@jereamyday8999 It's terrifying isn't it? 🤣 cutting up what seems perfectly good metal in order to access the not so good stuff
Nice intro and great workshop. We look forward to seeing more 👍
@@SimpsonsClassics Thank you so much!
What a fantastic opportunity. Not that you need it, but good luck with your restoring, expect to see you at Goodwood Revival in the coming years. Excellent
@@gramjones9584 You never know. Dream would be to stand alongside Dominic Chinea 🤣
Another excellent demonstration and explanation. I’ve owned a lot of Minis in my youth, but never knew about the slinging brackets. I always jacked on the subframes, but even then that was not always a good idea. Still learning at my age, thank you and keep the videos coming.
@gramjones9584 Thank you Graham! I love a good interesting fact myself 🤣 I actually called up Mini Sport and asked their team what they were for! I'm really enjoying this project. Excited to see where it leads.
Looking forward to seeing more, keep up the good work
@@adriansecker3124 Thank you so much! It means a lot
Good video, facts and detail. Will be following along on this adventure, keep up the good work 😊👍
@@jockedanielsson64 Thank you. Appreciate the feedback 😁🥳
This MPI mini looks like a good first project car, doesn't seem too far gone and lots of chance to put your own personality in to it! I will make one suggestion, disconnect the battery, unplug the ecu in the engine bay and maybe the srs modules under the back seat, some people say its possible welding can damage them electrically.
@ClassicMinishorts That's really great advice. Thank you for that. The battery is disconnected 👍🏻 I will do the same with the srs and ecu
@ClassicMinishorts And yes that is exactly the reason behind starting with this mini. I've learnt so much from it already. I'm excited to learn more and hopefully take some something slightly more ambitious afterwards
@@Lauras.workshop good luck with it, subbed to see what ideas you come up with 👍
@@ClassicMinishorts no pressure 😂
@@Lauras.workshop honestly, absolutely no pressure, I hope you really enjoy it first and formost! That's what makes good content, don't let viewers cause you stress!

Great video, there's quite a few women getting involved in more traditionally male hobbies/occupations......really good to see. Very best of luck. Need any classic car tuning advice or support let me know? 👍
@@AGClassicCarTuning Thank you! Really appreciate your comment. Yes, my aim with my videos is to show other women how much fun mechanics can be. Sometimes you just have to see someone like you do it, in order to realise YOU can do it.
Another great video and what a fantastic job you are doing with the welding repairs on your Mini. Keep up the good work 👍
Thank you! It's definitely thr best way to learn. I've become so much better and can see a huge improvement. I appreciate the feedback

The Mini is one of the greatest driving cars. Great choise. Any interest in a small list of little mods that will greatly improve your car?
YES PLEASE! I Was hoping I'd get tips from the community. I'm 7 videos ahead of myself so my mini is further along than you currently see it. But I'm still not sure what mods to make!
@@Lauras.workshop do you have a SPI/MPI?
@@Lauras.workshop are you planning to, or have taken your engine out?
@@GTE_Channel yes I think taking the engine out would be beneficial for my learning
@@Lauras.workshop ok so here is what I would , its just advice and nearly everything can be done at a later date as well. If you take the engine out I would highly recommend changing the camshaft (unless your engine is allready fitted with a MG Metro camshaft as standard) A modern camshaft like a Swiftune SW5 will give your engine torque from idle to top revs making it a blast do drive and overtake. With engine out a lighter flywheel would also be a great upgrade if funds allow that. A tuned cilinderhead can be to expensive for most, but any decent engine shop can do a 3 angle grind on the valves, this will make them flow better and boost performance. This is a really cheap modification. Any Mini will benefit from a decent sports exhaust, so I will allways recommend that. The best part of the Mini is the handling. A small investment in making front and rear geometry fully adjustable is a great investment. Also the rubber cones are often neglected, replacing them will make the car slightly more comfortable. Enjoy the process!
Great logo and just the beginning of a great channel. Looking forward to more
Thank you so much
Love the facts and detail, especially the difference of welding processes MIG? TIG?
@gramjones9584 Thank you! The next video coming out will be about coming 2nd in RedBull Soap box. Then after that and one art comission video, there will be another interesting mini video 👀 I'm about 6 videos ahead of myself.
What a beautiful timeless design particularly with the integral coffee table and so professionally completed. Amazing welding. Keep the videos coming
@gramjones9584 Thank you Graham. Welding this was so satisfying. I'd like to weld some sculptures eventually 👀 and this weekend I'll be filming a video about welding an intake manifold
