Kingman's equation: effect of utilization or the magnifying effect.
Просмотров 4,8 тыс.6 лет назад
This video describes a part of Kingman's equation related to the utilization of processes. The higher the utilization, the higher the impact of variation, this has as result longer waiting times and high WIP. Rajan Suri calls this "the magnifying effect". This video is part of a series of videos about Kingman's equation.

Kingman’s Equation: Influence of Variation
Просмотров 3,9 тыс.6 лет назад
This video presents the effect of Variation in the Kingman's Equation. The Kingman’s Equation provides an approximation of the mean waiting time of the components for a single process based on its utilization and variation. This video will focus on the direct effect on waiting time. Previous video explained the basics of the equation.

This is Part 4 of a series of six parts explaining about Planning and Control in High-Variety/Low-Volume (HVLV) Companies. Just in time (JIT) is a Japanese management philosophy which has been applied in practice since the early 1970s in many Japanese manufacturing organizations. It was first developed and perfected within the Toyota manufacturing plants by Taiichi Ohno as a means of meeting co...

This is Part 1 of a series of six parts explaining about Planning and Control in High-Variety/Low-Volume (HVLV) Companies. This is the introductory video that will give a short overview of important methodological developments in the planning and control at HVLV Companies. We distinguish six important developments: 1. Period Batch Control: fixed lead times = simplified cell coordination 2. Mate...
An Introduction to Card-Based Shop Floor Control
Просмотров 1 тыс.6 лет назад
This video introduces the module on Card-Based control. The module includes methods like Kanban, Cobacabana, Conwip and POLCA. These different methods can be implemented to limit Work-in-Process (WIP) inventory on the shop floor. The key element is to allocate cards to the items.
Kanban Card Example Part 2
Просмотров 2,9 тыс.6 лет назад
This video is Part 2 that further exemplify Kanban done by Ghent University. This video illustrates how to calculate the amount of Kanban cards does the production loop need if there is multiple products on the same machine. Kanban is Card-Based inventory control system that introduces limitations for Work-in-Process (WIP) inventory. It is an effective tool to support running the production sys...

VSM 3 - VSM in High-Variation, Low-Volume Production Environment
I passed the PE-Industrial exam this week. Thanks to your amazing videos.
Thanks for such type of good information. I have one question that how we calculate process lead time between two operations
sixth
fifth
@ 7:10, the table on the right hand side, the values with 2 servers seem to be wrong. They dont match the output of the sq.rt formula. can you please clarify , what is this number (extreme rigth column)
fourth
Hi! The U for the multiple servers - what U is that? Are you assuming that all servers have the same utilization, or are you taking the average of their utilization?
In the case of a consumer workstation operates in three shifts and the predecessor, producer workstation operates in one shift, the waiting time should include the two shifts the producer workstation is not operating?
Thanks!
Amazing job!!
third
Insightful!
So much work went into this video, only to be completely wrecked by the narration.
You have error in your VSM map, the last value added must be 3 on time line because C/T =3, however when you calculated the total value time is correct 17, this mean you considered 3, not 2 as what was written. Thank you for nice presentation
thank you! It was very helpful! thank youuuuu!!
Excellent explanation
Thank you so much
Gujrati me nahi samja sakte kya ??

Great video, Thank you !
second
Sound mixing is terrible, intro blew my ears off.
Under support processes, I'd add: "order & delivery or of raw/fresh ingredients": veg/meat/fruit etc...
The book is called The Goal not The Aim.
Thank you very much for this video 🙏🏼
Informative video !
You exlain NOTHING. NOTHING UNDERSTUD!
Isn't this called Kanban?
hello, thanks for the help about this method, wish book do you use for the example ?
I like this very much,thank you .
What's wrong with you man, why don't you take pauses between sentences. Any way good job. I understood the concept.
i smell dutch
Thank you
really can't hear what he is saying
4:21 huh?
Thanks!
Hi, thanks for the video. There is a mistake in the denominator of the magnifying effect formula. It is U^((2*(s+1))^0.5-1) / s (1 - U).
Exactly, I've noticed it too :)
Super! Thank you!
Leaving a comment here so you know that this was really useful.
Throughput time's unit should be 1/day, not day, as throughput time is defined as inverse of cycle time. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Haha, a waste of time, but I laughed, special thanks to the comments!
why did you write the cycle time of assembly and inspection as 2 min at the bottom and 3min above? I think its a mistake
first
Very good thank you for sharing this. Service blueprints are highly collaborative
It's a minor quibble but the initial example shows a queue and says there is no variability. If there is no variability, there is no queue.
Fastest way to become lean = Theory of Constraints. Theory of Constraints is way more than making a company / operations lean. It helps to link and synchronize every part of any systems towards the GOAL of the system.

Background music very distracting.
Change the guy.... Sleep inducing
Oof.
