It was such an amazing place. Such great memories. So sad how it came to such a tragic end.

Never saw this video til after I watched it burn down. The indoor-outdoor pool was always my favorite pool ever. I had no idea it was so unique, the first one in America. That’s so cool. Too many memories here. Childhood birthday parties, getting my hair cut, staying overnight when the A/C went out and it was too hot to sleep in the house, my *prom* …I’ll never forget Pheasant Run. It’s so sad what happened. It was clearly extremely cutting edge and incredible. I wish they’d maintained it and kept it at its former glory. Now, it’s gone forever. Saw the WGN sky cam this morning. The only thing left of the pool area that you can see is the actual pool outdoors, and the big rock they put in the middle. Everything else is flat and charred. 😓

Some great family memories were made at Pheasant Run over the years. It's too bad it was let go and had to close, seems at the very least, it might have made a great retirement center. That said, on 5/21/22 a major wing of empty rooms (west of the tower) caught fire and it appeared they were pretty much allowing it to burn(?)

I remember prom like it was yesterday. Wow it being closed is such a bummer

I have so many happy memories of those early days. I was barely out of HS and I was living my dreams. There were no limits or boundaries to where the path would lead. It all began here at Pheasant Run and I as so saddened to hear of its demise. I started a career in music in 1971 that still lasts today (2021) when I played my first solo professional job in The Stables across the street from the main resort. It was originally the beginning of Pheasant Run before the main facilities were built but by the time I played there it had become a satellite lounge open only on weekends in addition to the multiple lounges in the main part of the resort shown in the film and was adjacent to the stables where horses were kept for the use of the guests as well as stabling for local horse owners. Within a few months I had 'graduated' to the Baker's Wife lounge in the main facility when I subbed for Buddy Anderson (the entertainer who normally worked there). He had developed a medical issue that required him to take time off and I was contracted to cover for him. When he returned a party was thrown for him and he requested that I be hired as the entertainment and we actually performed a couple of songs together. It was an honor, since he was a seasoned veteran performer and I was such a newbie. He returned to the gig and the resort management offered me an open contract at a newly Ramada Inn about a mile west of the resort owned by Pheasant Run. The gig lasted a little over 8 months when I left to pursue another option... As a result of my time in the Baker's Wife lounge, I had met some musicians playing on Bourbon St. After leaving the Ramada Inn we became bandmates and worked together until 1978. The leader of the band was a guy a couple years older than me who originally went by the stage name, Johnny Lee. By 1973 we had relocated to Los Angeles and from that time on he went by the name Jonathan Cain. Yeah, the first time I met the future KB player for Journey was when he was playing accordion on the balcony with the curved wrought iron grill work on Bourbon St. shown in the video (on the left side) at about 6:44. Lol We eventually recorded an album on Bearsville records and performed on American Bandstand. I am grateful for those early gigs and opportunities at Pheasant Run. As some aging hippies have been known to say, "It's been a long, strange trip." Oh yeah, and a wonderful one too! I am grateful.
