I get that it's common courtesy for a player to wave and say sorry after they get fortunate with a net cord shot, but I'm with Soderling. It wouldn't matter to me if an opponent didn't say sorry to me if they got lucky with a net cord shot. No need to be sorry about something that happens in every match.

ha ha...this is actually a cool guy...honesty seems to be the best policy for him... which means he is a good chap...too bad the journos and folks like commentators put a bad-guy tag on him...the reporter here was being stupid... trying his best to spoil the already strained relationship between these two... Rafa was a kid in this tournament and may have complained a little louder than usual...of course in match situations it is good to put on a semblance of good manners.... but this guy preferred to be more honest and not say sorry over those "lucky" shots...the journo was rekindling the issue when Soderling was saying good things about his opponent... After that he would have preferred to 4get whatever little good thoughts he had for Rafa... journos always want to keep the fire burning...poor chap robinSoderling - misunderstood and misrepresented...

The courtesy wave to me with ping pong i did not like it also .....what the fuck ! My oponent is without a doubt happy with the point . Every body knows that ! I am not suprised some one will complain about Rafa constantly waitng pulling his short and waiting like for ever haha Those tennis players have also feelings. Saying sorry for a net cord point win is recent. You'll very rarely see the old pros doing it. Robin speaks his mind and isn't intimidated, true Viking. Tennis needs more characters like this ( not like Kyrgios even though he's more talented than Robin).

does Rafa respect fairplay rules by letting the other players wait forever between his serves and celebrating like hell while the opponents make an error? you gotta fight fire with fire. in return i would never say sorry after a lucky shot, never shake his hand, would go at his body when he comes to the net. this is not against the formal rules. Robin is just more honest than Rafa. that's the difference.

Сколько лет прошло после выхода сериала, просмотрела тогда, а как вчера было. Уже ни Влада, ни Игоря нет в живых, аж не верится, как сон какой-то дурной. Такие актеры прекрасные. Так и жизнь быстро пройдет. Вроде бы взять и отмотать назад, но это единственное, что нельзя вернуть - жизнь, это неисправимо НАВСЕГДА. Несколько дней назад пересмотрела снова. Наверное, самые интересные эпизоды в ленте - с участием Галкина и Шмакова. Лера, конечно, волевая, целеустремленная, но характер мне не понравился, какая-то она безэмоциональная, как робот. Ни тебе смеха, ни тебе нормальной искренней живости. Единственный раз видела её в приятном расположении духа, когда они с одногруппницей напились и завалились домой))). А по сути... Конечно, Гордеев ей подходит более - он взрослый, состоявшийся человек, работает, крепко стоит на ногах. Лере будет куда расти рядом с таким человеком. Да и стержень есть у него, посторонним не слишком он душу открывает и пресекает на корню любые поползновения в свой адрес. И даже в конце фильма символические кадры, когда они вместе в операционной стоят перед столом в масках - он впереди, она ведомая, но правая рука хирурга. И стало ясно, что это крепкий тандем и в работе, и в супружеской жизни. Но... Почему-то не отпускает ощущение, что они ну никак не пара... Ну вот нет чего-то, не знаю. Как-то с Глебом они более гармонично смотрятся, хотя Глеб раздолбай, что он может дать Лере, когда родители его содержат, а он не учится, ему не интересно? Ну повстречаются они с Лерой, а потом, если семья, как он будет семью содержать, за какие шиши? Да и Лера пойдет вверх, а ему ничего не интересно и он останется позади и отношения распадутся. Это если примерно следовать логике, а вот сердечко мое сожалеет, что они не с Глебом. Ну вот не знаю, почему... Хотя... Я не знаю, как бы я относилась у Глебу, играй его другой актёр, но Игорь прекрасно справился с ролью, там один только взгляд чего стоит. Сыграть глазами не каждый сумеет, это высший пилотаж. Да и мимика тоже соответствует...

I too like Soderling, as a Nadal fan. But I question your semantics in calling yourself a "big Nadal fan". The last two tennis videos you've liked and commented are Rafa/Darcis and Rafa/Rosol. Maybe you're just a masochist, not trying to tell you how to be a fan. Or maybe you should say "fan of Nadal", if he's not your favorite but you just respect him, to be less confusing.

I can understand why he would be complaining XD. Its kinda like who he is lol. But yeah... saying sorry to the opponent under all that pressure isn't... really that idealistic when the sets are so tight and it seems like 1 point can change the entire momentum from the player.

he always does. He really takes too long. Even when he misses first serve, he takes 15 seconds before he fires the second one. Touching, nose, hair, pulling clothes from his behind. I really got annoyed with him in these recent tournaments. ATp should ban players going for the towel after every freaking point, it's stupid, they are not that sweaty. I am not rogers fan(I dislike him actually) but he is true class act when it comes to these things.

I agree with Soderling, I have always thought apologizing for a net shot was silly. I also think Soderling was so mellow is because he knew the press was trying to rope him into saying things and getting angry by telling him Nadal was complaining about every little thing.

@ezayi For the record I heard, in another match, commentators referring to this match, saying that after every rain delay (there were heaps), Soderling would always be waiting ages for Nadal to get ready. That's what my "apparently" referred to. Given Nadal's track record (eg the coin toss I mentioned), it's not unreasonable to assume Nadal was playing mind games.

@ezayi Lol. Nadal's gamesmanship is infamous. It's OBVIOUS. Eg always making other player wait @ net b4 coin toss while he tends to his bottles etc. All the players know it (they've clearly learnt & adjusted to the coin toss stuff), & the commentators (who DO talk to the players directly) mention it constantly. Im not saying Im for or against all this, but fuck if I can't simply point it out! And sb with as much gamesmanship as Nadal probably shouldnt b talking about others' sportsmanship

When players are young, they tend to be a bit more hot-headed. Here Soderling was only 22. Yes it is rude to not wave an apology if your ball hits the net cord. It's called manners. All players should say sorry after a net cord. But now that Soderling has matured both in personality and rankings, glad to see he has put this behind him and get along with Nadal now (as he puts it, he has said it 200 times he has nothing against Nadal).
