About your point about pummeling. From my understanding I think you say basic gameplay is fun because it's not just direct rock paper and scissors, there's ways to edge ur bets in ur favour with proper spacing and stuff. I think that applies to the pummel as well cause certain character's pummel have special properties to them which could make them more likely to go for a pummel in a certain situation meaning if u know the character and you know they're in a good spot for pummel you can edge ur bets with assuming. It's not entirely random to parry a pummel is what I mean.

Whole heartedly agree for smash down and squad strikes, these are content creating modes, they allow for side events at big tournaments, they incredibly fun, and squad strike gives you the occasion to kick your friend that keeps saying "I lost but I've got better fundies" in the balls, only positive stuff.
