These phones can be a challenge for elderly with cognitive issues. Smartphones are actually more intuitive. I got one of these for mum and I have to say, even I had issues setting up and navigating. I feel I wasted money on this.
Where does it show when battery is low please
The battery indicator is in the top right corner. It goes red when the battery is nearly empty.
I tried to tske the phone off silent but instead there is a sound when I try to switch on and all is says is searching but the phone wont work I also tried taking out the battery to no avail. Please help
You mention a few things. What is the problem exactly? You can't stop the startup sound. If the SIM is active on a 2G network it should connect to the network and display the network name in the middle of the screen after searching.

Can anyone advise why I suddenly cannot receive any texts? I can send them, and I can make and receive phone calls. I just can't receive texts at all. Thanks Helen
Your message inbox is probably full. Delete some text messages.

If you go to the Call Log option in the menu there should be an advanced setting for black listed numbers. You should see the blocked contact there. Otherwise you might need to restore the phone to its factory settings. Menu - settings - restore factory settings. Password: 1234

The volume control buttons are on the left edge of the phone. If the phone is on silent or vibrate you press and hold the zero button to cycle through the profiles.

2G will work in the UK until 2033
Why are they still selling these on Ebay, they won't work because they are 2g and now we are at 4g or 5g. Am I right? I would like to buy one if they worked.
For now a lot of countries still support 2G. This phone will work in most European and African countries. 2G and 3G have mostly been shut down in the USA though.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this excellent video about the artfone. I found it very useful especially how to insert the sim card. The user instructions were next to useless.
I have just bought one of these for my wife. I can ring out ok. But when I try to ring it from 2 other phones I get a message saying it will not accept it?
It could be doing that for a few different reasons. If you put the SIM in a different phone does the problem persist? Are the numbers you're calling from blocked on the Artfone? It may be a network issue. It's a 2G phone and some networks have limited support for that band. You could try a SIM from a different network. Or go to Menu - Settings - Network settings and change the network selection from automatic to manual. Then select a different network to the one your wife is on. It will say "registering" and will either complete or fail. If it completes then you can try to call her phone again. I suspect it's just network related though.
Thank you for the information Eugene. Unfortunately, I have been into the Menu - Settings and there is no Network settings. I will contact the sim card provider after Christmas.
