Urd - Flying free
This time, it was a very different and interesting composition process. Most of the notes were done on the computer, instead of the piano. Yet, it was still very fun to explore and experience various ways to create music. The music style is also very different from my usual preference. It sounds more like a happy étude for practicing. Maybe somehow my recent musical mind is influenced a bit by all the etudes from my cello learning progress. As to the visual, I found one of my old paining works surprisingly suitable for such an uplifting melody.

The 2nd self-composed song. It was much harder than the first one. When I wrote down the melody line, I immediately saw the low light in my mind. Hence the name.

Christina's version of this song was amazing and I absolutely love it. She has an outrageously strong voice and her runs are undeniably hers. I wish she would have done more with the kids singing back-up during this performance. None-the-less, she has got one of the best female voices in the business.
The only problem with Xtina is that she is TOO capable. You don't have to riff every freakin line you sing that can actually take away from the beauty of a song especially a ballad. I mean damn we know you have skill set but sometimes less is more. This is a classic beautiful epic song and she over riffs it. I actually enjoy hearing her masterclass shorts where she sings straight and you can hear the incredible clarity of her voice. She was young here so that's kind of typical for someone who is younger to try to do the most even when they don't have to.

Her voice sounded freer when she was this age. I liked the tone better too compared to present time. She uses more distortion today and it make her voice sound muffled.
