I cannot help but feel the need to point out that in the original Rainbow Rocks, Sunset had the spotlight as much as she did because she was the main character of that story; so the story would put a spotlight on her and her actions. In this series, Peter is the main character of the story, so naturally the spotlight would follow him and his actions over Sunset's during the events of Rainbow Rocks. Also, maybe I'm just missing something, but don't see the continuity problem. If you go back to the first scene of chapter two, it is made apparent in the narration that she has never been to this world before. From her sheepish demeanor when she says, "I'm back" to the fact that when she checks out her appearance, she acts as if something is amiss about it. Her reaction as she looks into the mirror is also telling of the fact that she has clearly never seen herself like this before. Her body language and actions greatly contradict her words. She even dodges Rarity's question by very quickly changing the subject when Rarity asks her to elaborates on what she meant by stressing emphasis on 'can' when Twilight says, "Yeah. A lot _can_ happen in a few weeks." This is because Twilight is *_lying_* about having been there before. She's just meeting expectations of the girls because she knows she won't be there for very long. She only strays from the act a bit upon realizing that Peter is present in the area in this universe, as she wants to help him out here, seeing that the girls don't particularly like him or Spider-Man. I also don't see how her talk of her marriage makes it seem like it's a new thing, but more that she is reminiscing over it... though phrasing as such could have probably helped for the sake of clarity. Now as far as Twilight's interactions with Sunset Shimmer. This Twilight is the Spider's and Magic Twilight, she has years worth of interactions with another Sunset Shimmer. Taking that into consideration, I don't see her as having stolen Sunsets agency when she invites Sunset to join her with the mic. (Twilight doesn't give it to her, the two share it!) Also notice that when Sunset says, " "Okay. What do you need me to do? Any advice?" Twilight doesn't say anything back. I see this whole interaction as Twilight trusting Sunset. She is putting her faith in Sunset to be able to help her without her needing to hold Sunsets hand. Because Twilight knows from her interactions with her own Sunset, that Sunset is a capable person. She doesn't _need_ to tell her what to do, which respects Sunsets agency as a character. In my opinion, this is better for Sunset's character development. Because Twilight throughout the story is seen as the one who has everything under control, and that she knows exactly what to do. Despite this, she extends a hand to Sunset Shimmer by expressing that she could use Sunset's help, which makes Sunset feel important; and as mentioned above, Twilight respects Sunset's agency by letting Sunset figure what to do for herself. Is it less badass? Yeah, I'd have to agree that it is. Though on the other hand, I'd argue that it's also a lot more wholesome that the two do it together. Not to mention this Twilight is older, more mature, and wiser than the original Twilight. Given what we know of her character, it wouldn't make sense for this Twilight *_not_* to depend on Sunset, and to not ask Sunset to join her as soon as Twilight realizes that she could use Sunset's help. In my opinion, I think your bias to Sunset in the original may have gotten in your way a bit with your critique of this one. 😉 Because once it was made apparent that this Twilight was different, it goes without saying the some events would be different, too, due of the differences in the two Twilights' characters. (Not to mention the influence of a certain neighborhood friendly Spider-Man being present.) Other than that, I'd say you're pretty spot on as per usual. The way that you point out the warts and tropes unapologetically never fails to crack me up, not to mention the useful insight you bring up with it. So great job! Looking forward to the next one. 👍

9:00 - Oh god.... Why is this so cringe and awesome at the same time?!.... Seriously though, good choice of song. 10:40 - This does raise a lot of questions. I have my own theories why this Twilight from the original Spiders and Magic was here and her real reason for interfering with the canon in the first place and I do hope any future episodes will address this. Also Sunset is going to have a lot of questions if she finds out that this sussy Twilight is not the same one she met before, not to mention that the Equestria the portal is connected to isn't her Equestria and there's already a Sunset Shimmer living there. 12:06 - ....You're never going to let Max live that down, are you? Overall, Episode 2 does seem as one of the weakest entries released so far, and I do agree that Sunset was sidelined from her own spotlight. But it does make up with the development of the side characters, Aria and Trixie in particular. As for the shipping, I have my fingers crossed for Sunset. And while I prefer Peter's relationship with Trixie as merely platonic, it is growing on me and would come as a close second.

Love this review! My favorite bits are without a doubt Trixie's internal screaming at Peter's singing, Peter's concert, and 33's Shipping Wars breakdown. Sunset's benching gets addressed and becomes a plot point in Episode 4. But I totally understand why it can leave a sour taste in anyone's mouth. Plus AJ's breakdown of the plot hole with Twi's appearance has me realizing that I have to fix a few things. Overall, I agree that this is a mixed bag, so I hope things improve! And trust me! This won't become a harem thing. I had enough of that during the first go around.
