No, there are 3 buttons built-in, 2 of them switch between effects, and a 3rd button can modify each effect. You can add external footswitches if you want but they aren't needed.
@@bassalienthank you
Hi sir, nice demo. However, how i wish if u demo the bass with both pickups on.
really helps
Hi sirs, I recently purchased this from Amazon. But it seems mines not working. When I plugged the cables, it powered on but rhe screen just showed the Boss logo and then it went blank. There is something I missed? Or is my unit defective? Thanks for your answers.
@@IT-IT07 sounds defective. It should always have something on the screen
@@bassalien thank you sir. I’m returning it to the seller in Amazon.
If I had this how would I connect it with my Markbass cabinet and amp head like where do I plug everything ?
I would to try one of these with five strings.
I like the body shape of it. The top horn is less … phallic shaped then other warwicks
ha true! It's well balanced with the upper horn going to 12th fret, making it easier to play and comfortable
yeah had a chick telling me ”Nice dickbass”. Promptly switched to a streamer, which also sounded better
What's the differece between the "Drive" knob and the "Saturation" knob ? For me the drive knob sounds more like an overdrive pedal as the saturation knob sounds more as the gain knob of an all tube amp (like an Orange AD200)
Ah! I needed you to finish that 😆
Thanks for this review! I just saw this pedal yesterday, but didn't know what all it could do. My brother, who recently passed away used a pedal board w/several pedals mounted on it. I have a few pedals and was contemplating on buying a board, then fing a power supply for it all. With this pedal, I could afford to part with some of my existing pedal. I'm a trucker, so this would be good for the road, too, it looks like. And I found you by accident, but you're on my radar now! 😉 👍🎸
Glad I could help!! Sorry for your loss.
I wanted to see the tuner on the screen. ❓
You play like someone that has a bass guitar in their hands for the first time. Why don't you play something decent instead of just muddling through it? It's annoying and shameful.
Maybe someone can help me with this question-- let's say on this, I have it setup so I have on an octaver, a phaser, and a synth. While playing, am I able to turn off or turn back on any of these three pedals? So, just using my feet, I could turn off the octaver, then turn it back on, then turn off the synth?
Maybe this will be useful ruclips.net/video/7uAilqxJFNw/видео.html&ab_channel=BOSSchannel
Great review mate! Really informative and i like your style of playing! I am planning on getting that Pedal as a gift to myself soon ;) Do you think that I need a compressor as well, or it can stand on its own on a recording or live gig?
There is a built-in compressor, and yes I think it could stand on it's own! But with most all-in-one pedals, it's hard to beat a stand-alone analog compressor. I'd say start with this, and add on other stand-alone if you feel you need them. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the detailed response!@@bassalien
@@deltanetrunner4146 happy to help!
Thanks for the tutorial! I’ve been playing bass for about 43yrs and only dabbled in Either drop D tuning or tuning to E-flat for most of my ventures! Very low tuning but makes sense how he gets the very low growling tones! Kudos! 🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻
Thanks for watching! Some people think Krist detuned his other 3 strings as well, but I couldn't find evidence of that and it actually would make this song a little harder to play due to the finger reach if tuned that way.
This is definitely on my Sweetwater list to order a great video on this product, I was blown away by Geddys video where he was talking about being on the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame induction of yes playing Chris Squire’s place he got Squires sound no time
You should order from us instead!! You won’t be disappointed!!
Horrible
Nice creativity, and good technique in your noodling. I just found your channel, and can see that you know how to play. Thanks - I bought the DI-2112. It has taken a blanket off of my tone. I’m dialing it in for different scenarios and I’m really appreciating what a great tool it is.
Does it have any pitch shifting effect that works with chords? Maybe the overtone effect? I'm looking for a dry signal + an octave up signal for chords.
You can set the parameters just like the pedals.
Hi! What's the black semi acoustic bass in the rear? If it's short scale with mudbuckers I need one of those 😍
Looks like a Warwick Star Bass to me, maybe the Rockbass version, not sure.
Hi, does it need to have a particular adapter for it to work? It says on the AC that it needs a “BOSS PSA ADAPTER ONLY”
It will work with any 9v power supply of the correct polarity (if the polarity is wrong, it will not fry it, just not work), as long as it's enough mA (milliamps). Soooo for example Thomann NT 0910 would work with it
@ Thank you good Sir!
I have this paired with a pulp n peel... Amazing unit. Its much more than an emulation of Geddys tone.
Oh nice! I haven't checked that compressor out yet. What do you think of it?
@@bassalien Its got a lot of compliments. It can be very transparent. Go check out some videos. The worst thing about it is the price, but its a very well crafted pedal that can also be used as a DI. Comes with a fuzz circuit too so you're getting a lot of value.
I've had this unit 3 years or so. I still dont understand why the 20db cut switch for active basses...on the BACK of the unit/? how would a person be able to switch it back at a gig when using more than one bass both non active and active. Seems like a no brainer. Fortunately I have the option on my pedalboard but I hate bending over and doing it in between songs when switching basses. Maybe some day they will address this. Still a great preamp.
Yeah good point! I suppose you could have your passive bass in the front input at fixed "0 dB", and 1 or 2 active basses in the back with the -20 dB pushed. I think they figure you will plug up to 3 basses in and leave the -20dB as is during a gig or something who knows! Thanks for watching!
Does this simulate and amp vs. just plugging into an interface? Replace as a DI box? Why buy this vs. RBI?
Yes it's a preamp and DI box so you can send the output to an amp or a PA, or direct to a recording interface. Some use this with an RBI as you can leverage the additional inputs and outputs this GED 2112 has for separate routed signals. If you want more inputs or control over your tone you would get the GED2112 as it has 2 different shapable channels as I show in the video. Other than that they're somewhat similar. The RBI is more straight forward as far as how to wire it up. The GED you would have to either combine the signals or have a mixer to get the best sound to a single input like a traditional bass amp.
You talk to much!
LOL you comment too much!! Thanks for watching.
@@bassalien I'll take that! Friends?
@@ivarmortenlorentzen2274 of course!
Do you need a bass cab? And does it work well with a frfr speaker like the headrush?
You don't need an amp or cabinet as you can line this straight out to the PA or recording interface like Geddy does. I haven't tried it with a FRFR like Headrush but it should work well with XLR balanced outputs.
Thank you for the review
Great video! I’m planning on getting this preamp. I came across another video where you might be able to combine the 2 outputs by moving the circuit jumper. The comment section appears to show others had success with it. ruclips.net/video/KXQdjsOje5Q/видео.html
Awesome! Yeah there are a few ways to combine them it seems. The Pedal version does it for you but then offers less flexibility. We have them for sale at our store! bassalien.com
What about taking one of the outputs and run it to the effects loop input and set to 50/50? Would then the other output be a combo of the two?
@@spiderstudiosohio Hmm I'll have to try that!

Awesome! What's your favorite presets or did you make your own? Thanks for watching
@@bassalien people say none of the presets are good, but I love 70s Amp Finger, Low and Sweet, Filter Funk and some more. Just getting into making my own and grabbed a lot of tone studio. I'm not very good at that so it's a WIP
Man, you really rock, yo!
Thanks man! I will keep practicing and learn some new ones! Which songs should I do next?
@@bassalien Such a greay bass player and also a humble person. I'm already your fan. So, what do you think aboout Grapevine and Winona's?....I think it'd be great seeing you play these tunes. And a Question, in which place is Les in your personal Bassists ranking?
@@ELBERGOEBBELS Ah you like some Tales from the Punchbowl!! Awesome, I will work on those 2 songs! I appreciate the kind words! Great question.. I really love Victor Wooten, as far as technical ability, and he's so inspiring if you see him live and/or talk to him. But as far as who's music I like better, it's Les all day!!! But Victor can get really funky. And Les got me to start playing bass. I was like 18 and just graduated high school when Sailing Seas came out, and it blew my mind. Later I got into Victor.
@@ELBERGOEBBELS it's hard for me to rank bassists by number because I like different ones for different things. Like my favorite finger funk players are Rocco Prestia and Joe Dart. Then I saw Stanley Clarke live and he blew my mind. Jaco for harmonics and a number of things. How about you?
@@bassalien I'm not a Bass expert. Les is my number one, because of his musical genius not only playing and singing at the same time, but also the lyrics, musicianship etc. Primus is my fav band and the Beasties are the band of my life, but both bands, to me, lost their essence in the mid 90's. Apart from "Animals Shouldn't" I can't listen to a whole Les/Primus album since the Brown Album. There's a guy called Karl Alvarez, he plays for ALL/Descendents, he's also a Bass superhero. And by the way, ALL's singer, Chad Price, is to me the best voice in Rock n' Roll History. Check a song called "ww.Sara" by ALL. But even not being an expert, I know a great bassist when I see one, and you're defintely one of them. There's also the Bass player who played most of the soundtrack of the movie "Hair", Wilbur Basscomb, he also rocks.
Great job! Les also had a band called Sausage back in the day, check it out.
Oh yeah Sausage is sweet! I’ll try to learn some of their songs next!

Nice informative video.....and nice playing! What is the model of Schecter bass you are playing?
It's a Schecter Riot 4, it's a neck thru I bought like 10 years ago ish. I'll check the serial #. It plays awesome, I did replace the bridge pickup with an EMG-DC35 and the neck pickup is disabled LOL. The preamp is an active EMG BTC running at 18V I'll probably get another DC35 for the neck and get that one working too.
Tommy the Cat
Lacquer head
Luv the powerful clean
Yeah its sweet. I may have accidentally overdriven some of the clean sounds but its so versatile it was hard to capture all the different tones
Does it work as a practice amo with headphone jack
Yes! There’s an 1/8” stereo jack in the back for jamming in private
Hi! nice video. One question, the 3 foot switches are plastic or metal? they look a little breakables
Yeah they are plastic switches, so probably not as durable on the road as heavy duty metal ones. Still great for home and local gigs if you don’t go crazy 😆
Do you like it clean or dirty? Whats your favorite preamp?
What song do you want to hear next? Also, don't worry, I'll record this one again, had some technical issues...

Have you tried this pedal yet? What do you like and not like about it?
Honestly I'm having a very tough time operating this pedal. It is incredibly complex and the instruction manual is not very helpful. Ive watched all the videos I can find on how to work it and I'm about to give up on it.
@@cousineddie7898 are you trying to do something specific? Like edit/create a custom setting?
No. Just trying to go through it and get it working correctly. The manual isn't very clear on the difference between the preset settings and the user set settings. Can't get the wall pedal to work correctly all the time even though the manual says to step forward very forcefully until the light comes on. Just seems to be an overly complex device to work around.
This pedal is incredibly complex and difficult to use. Yes, it is extremely capable of a lot of things. Had they written the instruction manual so you could actually understand it this would be a much better pedal.
@@cousineddie7898 Completely agree - I have one and whilst it's supposed to be capable of a lot, without a useful instruction manual or useful set of instruction videos it's proving to be not as useful as hoped. Has anyone, for example, figured out how to isolate an effect into an available memory slot so just that single effect can be used?
