On a Volvo D5 a display message saying MOTOR MANAGEMENT is often caused by the a failure of the swirl valve, probable by a detached link.

The use of flathead screws make me a bit nauteous. But other than that pretty awesome.
I bought them on a website www.conrad.nl . They are steering rods for a remote controlled car by the brand REELY. Cost about € 6,00.
Does it still work? Or did you have to replace it

Hello Jerome, I bought a set drag links for a remote controlled car on www.conrad.nl or www.conrad.de This part is a M3 spanner with right hand side treath on one side ans left hand treath on the other side . It is about 8 centimeters long. This is often used as a rear suspension part for a remote controlled car. I hope you will find it on the sie I mentioned or an other site for remote controlled car parts. Good luck. Rgds, Rene
The link is at 4,29 for 2 right now thats 2,15 for one....including screws and nuts for 20cents...thats approximately 997 Euros and 65 Cents Cheaper than replacing the flaps...i think i'll try this first! And this seems to be by far the best solution, no building custom rods or anything like that, awesome!

@@renewesterhof4968 M3x20 doesn't fit in the gap on the later engines, i used M3x16 with a flat countersunk head on the engine side.Also you can't unbolt the link arm from the motor on my engine. But cutting and drilling with the arm installed works just fine, you just need a very long drill bit to get to it.

Hello, Thank you for this great, economical tip. On the other hand your engine clearly makes a noise of out of service hydraulic valve lifters. You should replace them quickly, as you may end up with one or more broken tappet housing (s) and the dead cylinder head. Remi

Well done that is an excellent job. I have just found out that my link arm has fallen off meaning smoke from the exhaust. I need to do this job. My V70 has done 107,000 miles - 172,200 km.
On my fall off but wihout smoke
Update: january 2021, at 530.000 km the modification is still working perfectly.
René, have just adopted & executed your method, was a bit of a struggle in those tight spaces, bit it’s done. Fingers crossed that it’ll hold. Thanks so far anyway.
How's about EGR valve? That still can cause problem,by clogging up swirl flaps !
Does the BEP handle running led lights/indicators as well as the speedo?
Yes is does , every indicator lamp works.
Tire Size Front and Rear?
I used Michelin Sirac 120/80-18 on the front and 130/80-17 on the rear wheel.
@@renewesterhof4968 what's the biggest rear tire size u can fit on the stock snowflake oem wheels?
@@JologsGarage Hello Jologs, 140/80 is for sure no problem, a 150 mm tire will be critical with the availible space between the cardan and the tyre wall.

I used heavy duty paint remover. For every layer of paint , I had to apply a new layer of paint remover . 4 times in total. In the Netherlands the brand is Alebastine , extreme heavy dutypaint remover. Regards, Rene
