Gravel Ride of the Week: Dirty Kitten Gralley Cat
I just purchased a Wolf Tooth oval Cinch direct mount for 12s HG+ chain ring. Truth be told, I wanted an absolute Black but the online bike shop had a 20% off coupon and they didn’t have the aB in a HG+ chain compatibility. I’ve purchased Wolf Tooth dropper levers and seatpost clamps and been very happy with their quality, and the fact that they’re made in the USA. WT claims they have the right amount of ovality paired with 112 deg after top dead center. I’ve had a couple of aB oval rings and been very happy with them. I hope my luck is as good with the Wolf Tooth. Your video instills confidence in my purchase.
too much obsession with this 1 vs 2by. ITs not a either or argument as they both have their advantages, use cases.
The cost, time and effort (plus injuries) needed to handle all the cascading effects by adding/ testing new components yourself, I'm glad I went straight to a professional bike fit. Plus, my bike fitter was a physio (with a Masters) and 20+ years experience. Glad to hear you say at 6:35 you would have benefitted from seeing a bike fitter from the get go. Hope your bike experience got better after that. Also, hope your calf injuries got better.
I had more punctures on these tires than any others. I don’t know if was just bad luck but seems like they don’t resist road punctures like glass, goats heads and wire. The WTB Ventures I have currently have had none.
Just tried it and can confirm that the following combination works very well indeed: Campagnolo 10-speed (ultrashift™) ergo levers Shimano 9-speed (105) hub Shimano 9-speed (ultegra) cassette Shimano 10-speed GRX RX400 rear derailleur KMC X-9 9-speed chain My modified cassette is : 34/30/27/24/21/19/17/15/13 and the chainset is a Spa Impact Triple: 46/34/24.
Very curious I have those in my 21 internal width - they measure 51,5mm yours on 25mm 51mm - they should go wider or just are better designed for wider rims. I was wondering to get 28mm internal rim but I am afraid they will be bigger than 52mm. Do you think they would ?
Alsome
I was exactly looking for advice on this, helped with my purchase, Thanks!
Oh this is awesome! Thank you so so so much!!!
Your video would be much more believable if you actually include ALL of the GRX models instead of only a few. There's a lot more than you included here. What's up with that?
Thanks for this very useful review. Just went from a 56cm Domane to a 54 Checkpoint and need more rise. Fellow SAFFA who came to Park City mid 80's and been riding ever since!
Great video. How rocky can you go on 45mm? Nice to see ideas about lines.
So u can use this without a treadmill 😂😅
😂😂😂
Great video except for the soundtrack. You totally ruined the video by adding a soundtrack. Leave it off next time.
I randomly bought a beef heart at the market yesterday, this video definitely boosted my confidence to cut this thing up and throw it into the slow cooker.
Thank you so much for this video. I have a similar Trek Domane and is about to do the same converting to triathlon bike. Clearly what not to do is more important than what to do.
How are the wheels now, found them for $450
How big chainring i can run on grx812 gs 11/42 casset?
Excellent review, thanks a lot, krzysztof (PL)
The silca synergetic wet lube do one when first time using it apply it twice with some hours inbetween or is one time enough? I used rock n roll gold before it didnt degrease or anything else but hose trough the chain and dry it then apply silca synergetic wet. Also when dirty do i just hose it trough with water and that doesnt flush out the oil?
With these videos, we feel the race through you, almost as partners. Thank you.
Can I do it not on the treadmill?? Like can I get run down the street with something?
Love your videos, Wiehan. You are a breath of fresh air. Best to you and Christin
Also, you kind of went quickly through how if you have ZIFT going on your phone you can just mirror it onto the television using Apple TV but you didn’t explain how… I have an older Apple TV box and I don’t understand how you did that… Are you saying that you runs swift on the Apple TV box or are you saying you run it on your phone and then somehow you’re having that mirror to the Apple TV box? And if so how?
@MountainRoadRide Very much appreciate this video and I had a question, if I didn’t want to use a chest strap because it’s uncomfortable for me is there a product that you recommend that could be used the same way as an armband or so forth,? And if so, do I need to find an app for that one or how would I do that and do you have one in mind?
I am making some today using an online recipe I found the other day. It seems a bit different because it adds a can of cream of mushroom soup to the mix and has you boil the beef heart for about 3 to 4 hours (added a bit of ACV to the water when boiling--it is supposed to break down the collagen and sinew in the meat to make it softer) before cutting the heart into tiny 1-2" cubes. It did call for potatoes, carrots, and onions so I will use those since I have already cut them up into cubes. Parsnips would have been a great alternative though. The recipe I found did not mention sauteing any of the vegetables or the meat first but I like your recipe's suggestion to saute everything. It can only add more flavor to the dish when combined with the stock that came from boiling the heart.
Loved the video. Great content. The commercials were dreadful...You-Tube lets anything on their platform...Time to search out another
All tires put min bar too high, you can run them even with 1,3-1,4 bar and will be totally fine depending on your weight of course.
I have to say it. Get to the Chopper!
26mm is not gravel lmao 😂😂🤣
It's true that riding on gravel with 26mm isn't very comfortable. However, Panaracer offers relatively narrow Gravel Kings such as 26, 28, and 32 so that they can be attached to rim brake bicycles and disc brake bicycles with narrow clearance. The fact that Panaracer offers a thin Gravel King indicates that even a 26mm tire can be used as a gravel tire.
WHAT, no turnups? My Mom always tried to trick us with turnups, they looked like potatoes, I ate them but resented being tricked. Butter can make an inedible, edible.
What full length fenders are those?. I was wanting to put fenders on my all road gravel bike
Thanks will try this on my canyon grail, it has a super low stack 556 for the same size as you
Same boat. My Grizl has a lower stack than my old endurace
I volume was so low I had to give up watching.
Hey mate youve always made great vids! Shame you've stopped hope you are going okay.
Baie goede video, ek heb veel geleer. WTB Nano lyk meer geschik voor gravel dan road. Nu is ek vooral bly dat ek WTB Horizon 47mm heb vir my gravelbike. Tot zover mijn poging om Afrikaans te schrijven.
As Josh says; The noise you hear is generally from the side plates. That’s not a good sign as to when you need to top off your lube. I use the Silca wax, then top off with super secret drip wax every 300 miles or so. Little noisy, but again - Side plates. I’ve just relearned what my chain sounds like. Now that sound of dryness doesn’t bother me.
Gave me a few ideas watching your videos, How much does it weigh with present set up ? Have same wheelset but will buy the bike with a carbon fork
I am having that exact question 😊 thank you for making this video
With the 26c gravelkings do you still use a 25mm inner tube?
awesome ride!

Is that raw silver or nickel?
Does running on zwift cost the monthly subscription ?
Does anyone know what size fork to put on these? The state sus fork is out of stock. I have two Roxshox, but not sure what size is correct. The States website says 40mm... But doesn't specify any other specs
Hi what pressure are you running on those tyres? I’m using the sram pressure calculator but feel that the pressure are still very high I got the 700x50 and 60kg rider 13 kg bike Zipp 303 firecrest rims tubeless
I just saw your video, I tried the same tire but 28c it’s better due to lower pressure of 65psi. Thanks for the review.
I’m a big fan of beef hearts and I’m happy to see what you did in your video. You can also get several very nice steaks from beef hearts, it just takes a little more trimming.
Curious about the weight difference between the titanium and stainless frames. This was 2 years ago but I noticed they don't offer the Campy groupset anymore so that was a whirlwind romance.
Great video. One thing you could add is when discussing Google Street view is in areas you identify as a good route but has no street view, you can contribute by adding your 360 video content using popular 360 cameras that can capture GPS tracking while filming. Simple tools like Insta360 camera connected to your cell phone can capture this information, that you can upload to Google Street view. Now others can then benefit from your planning
