Thanks for the tips Uncle Fred. I remember my very first rod was the Kastking Eagle rod. Cheap rod. I broke it at Kusu Island. The thing snap I also didn't realize until the line went limp and it was hanging from the grommet. Cheap rod. I remember losing about 6 lures that day. So many rocks and rough sea. Raining some more! Scary as I had to jump on the rocky breakers to get nearer to the sea. Wind so strong. I caught one Octopus in the lagoon area by hand! I think it was escaping the rough waters outside.
Welcome!! always remember about safety when fishing. It is not easy to fish in rocky area and windy conditions. The more you fish and learned, you will improve eventually 😊😊

hello, can share what kind of jig setup are you using for grouper? btw nice catch!! 😁😁
This time around we did not get any grouper on jigs. However usually I have success with Storm Koika, Slide Dancer and Kensaki. The Golden Snapper was caught on Slide Dancer 😆😆

When they targeting those big groupers they are using Ocea 2000 and PE6-8. Line is 65LB which is like PE6 and leader at least 100LB 😆😆

We started from RSYC and fish around Tuas area and Raffles Lighthouse usually 😆

wow such light tackles, i would have used a stiff broomstick lol. very nice memory of the islands but the 4-5 hours journey is bum busting.
😆😆 yes but now with speed boat it is faster. We also start to flick some jigs along the way so it was pretty good 🤩 not so tiring

@@calvinc6121 I am not a boat expert but I think he was cruising more than 10 knots. We started Tanjong Leman jetty and fish along the way on day 1 to Aur. Day 2 we fish from Aur back.

We are fishing off Sibu islands. The jetty we boarded is Tanjong Lehman, part of Johor.
