Loved the parts that had Larkhall and blantyre
Just the year after I was born & my folks had moved to Hamilton from The Daer. It was such a lovely town then
This is all Hamilton, not Bothwell and Uddingston. Cadzow Street, Regent Way shopping centre, Quarry Street and Philips factory on Wellhall Road.
Thanks for this, Love it.
My father (1915-2000) was born in Uddingston, the son of a miner and one of nine children all of whom survived into adulthood. He never lived to see RUclips but he would have been very moved by this archival film. To think that not a trace of Bothwellhaugh survives !
My mum Betty Baillie lived here, she says it was a great place ♥️
At 4.26 this was known as Rubens lounge in the late 80's located under the Garrion hotel, Popular with people enjoying a drink and a dance before heading up to Zanzi bar.
I grew up in Ure Crescent. Our mum, Mary McKeever is seen, (glamour puss brunette wearing the purple coat) near the end of the video taken at the Gala Day in Jenny's Park.
I want to go home and die there
My Homeland, Scotland Lanarkshire
No sound!
A real sense of community, even the dogs ran with the kids and played alongside. Kids all waiting on the scramble lol. I don't think we'll ever see the same again. :(
A Load of Presbyterian Clap Trap
Great film. I think it shows my Granny and my cousin at the tea party around the 15 min mark.

@@1297wombat Er Naw. a wee bit doon the road here n aw the oil in the world is turnin te Mud!.
@@jamesohara4295 Very useful and expensive mud it was. so much so that Denis Healy, the man in the video admitted years later that they lied about the value to keep us all quiet. And noo oor Rishi wants to max it out. Again really useful mud.
@@1297wombat Mud is mud thanks to your Tartan Greens.
