This is the difference between dynamo in revit and grasshopper in rhino.Rhino is completely built for modelling complex geometries while revit use dynamo to create and control the family.

That's “string” node in dynamo.ABC means letters you can type in.

Thanks for the tutorial. But I have one issue. First can you tell me what is the use of Geometry.GroupByDistance node? Its not working in my script. Caused by this issue the whole script is not working. Also, List.IndexOf node giving -1 value. Please reply.

@@rahidmullas4575 not really wall has wall type instead of family type.those are different parameter input and the script won't run.

@@Ekkfad YES，first input “标高” means level. second input 选择门的图层 means “Select the cad layer of door” third input “选择CAD文件” means “Select CAD file” fourth input “族类型“ means ”Family types“，here I choose door family type as you mention.I recommend you use family type by name node,it's better or if you don't want to change just don't set it as input parameter.

Hi. This works for only one cad file linked to the Revit project. The moment you introduced another CAD file linked to the project e.g on the first floor, the script runs but doesn't create walls. It stops at the pint of creating the bounding box cuboids. Is there a workaround this? Great script though. Thanks a lot in advance.

@@McOchanIKut my script has select model element node as input,it can renew the import cad file without problem.
@@mavs013 I just found a fix around it. The plane had no intersection point with the CAD file inserted in the first floor. So I displace the z=0 place upwards to the level of the CAD file in the first floor, it then worked!!!!

If you have the line on drawings as the accurate position and you have specification revit family.It can be done.

While working with this, i came across few question such as while giving LENGTH input to LIST.CHOP, in code you use value "4" why so what does this 4 indicates?. And input for SURFACE.POINTATPARAMETER, use give U V value as 0.5? can you please explain reason for choosing these values?
ok,in my case each column block in CAD has four lines.in dynamo it will retrieve all lines one by one.So chop in four makes each group for one column block. The second question I give 0.5 for value of U V of a surface.this is because I want to get the center point as the location point for placing the column family instance.You can use your method.
Hello, Thanks for sharing! When I'm trying to create surface and point at the middle of columns, it placed the points to a really different area. Then when I zoom out a bit, it shows some rectangles that is not in dwg file. Did you have this kind of problem?

A question how to manage the script if I have diagonal walls, when using the script in that case the walls appear on the x or y axis
I have used a node called group by parallel to divide them into 2 groups,thus these lines can ben managed.

thanks alot for your videos, i have a question the script doesn't consider the column rotations and also circular columns, how to modify the script to account for these cases.
YOU can set rotation for element after they are placed.And the circular column is the same as the rectangular column.

There are many ways to do it I guess,I share mine to show it can be done.And with voice I think I can express what I really want to demonstrate.My oral English is not that good so I choose to use text-to-voice to add voice.

I spend whole day to make it.around 8 hours.You need to think the method and test it in different scenario and also I use Chinese version of Revit then I will test in English version of Revit thus I can send to client.
