Their characters have not interacted with each other much *at all* and we are supposed to expect an "Avengers team " level bond? Skeptical for sure. Maybe it would have hurt to give her the comics or the gym membership. She killed it as that character. Her powers are mental so maybe they wanted her small frame to show that stark difference. Maybe the comics would have led her to play the role a little different. Might not have been as good of a performance for this movie

Notice how the xeno above her is on all 4's with no body's, then a few seconds later it's 30 odd feet away carrying navarro and bjorns corpses. Definitely more than one xeno in this clip.
