Microtech Exocet reassembly
Putting the Exocet back together, hope the closer view helps you reassemble this little otf knife
*NOTE* There are two sides to your blade. One side is flat, it goes towards your switch. The other side has some notches, that side goes towards your locking pins

Microtech Exocet fix
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.2 года назад
Received from bladehq and was really excited, didn’t expect it to already be here. Opened the box and thought that this thing was puuuuuurdy ! Went to use it and the blade wouldn’t go into the forward locked position….. I was bummed. Decided to open it myself and take a look, knowing it would void warranty, and found the problem. Hope this video helps anyone that doesn’t want to ship out their ...
How hard was it to get the keeper pin out of the blade? Mine is immovable
Are you talking about the circle pin for the blade? Idk if they updated them knives or when you ordered yours but if you are referring to the pin that stops the blade from flying out the front mine will fall out if I turned the blade upside down. Or at least that’s what I remember, I haven’t had to take the knife apart since this video
@@lv_h8 my other microtechs the pin just falls out but the one in my Exocet is firmly in place. It may have loctite now and I tried heat and some other things to break it free with zero luck. I was able to shave the side of the blade with minimal damage to the body and fixed the deployment problem. Thank you for this video 🙏
@@travisdale6535 oh that’s awesome ! Glad I was able to help. Surprised they don’t have this issue sorted yet. I know did too much grinding inside mine but I’m glade others don’t have to and it’s a somewhat simple fix 👍
Hi подари bro;)
Should have just sent it back, now if any of the parts fail youve voided the warranty.
Nah ! I like tinkering with things, mentioned this already, didn’t care if I voided the warranty. It’s been working like a dream ever since I “fixed” it
👍
Imagine you buy a 400 bucks money clip made in USA and it fails right away ... I stick to Guardian Tactical and Heretic ... for a money clip option I will use a Cobratec Enforcer for 1/3 of the price which WORKS!
Right haha ! I like tinkering, making things, knowing how things work so it was fun for me and on the plus side I was able to fix it. But yeah spending that kind of money for something that doesn’t work isn’t ok
that's indeed super annoying and i'd be very pissed too. i guess i was lucky with my sandtrooper exocet, hadn't had a single problem yet.
Made in America means absolutely nothing when it comes to quality. Don’t even get me started on the dogshit wages these top brands pay employees
What tool do you use ?
I made the tools out of some old bits I had laying around
Also there are two different sides of the blade. A flat side (goes towards your switch) and a side that has some notches (goes towards the locking pins)
Big side of the spring system goes to the bottom of the plate, there is a notch on the plate for it. I said bottom side of the blade as a guide to which end it’s supposed to be placed
Can you show how to put it back together? Had the same issue but it worked prior not sure how the spring/plate lays.
It’s not currently on me and I won’t be able to post a video on it until some time next week, if you still need it. From what I remember the plate should be pretty strait forward and I know the spring has two different sized metal pieces at the ends. I think the smaller piece is up towards the top. The plate should only work one way because of the catch points for the locks. It should go blade in (use the grooves), the blade pin that keeps it from flying out the front, plate on top of the blade, then the spring system
If it helps check out 2:40 in the video to give you an idea on the orientation of the plate
I’ve got the same prolbem with mine currently have it apart. It seems like it’s hanging up on something or something is giving it resistance inside, I think maybe the stopnpin is hanging up on the paint, or the side of the blade that contact the handle inside the grove is catching on the paint? How’s the drop pin inside the blade supposed to be? Is it supposed to be flush with the blade on one side and protruding on the other side? I’m gunna try lighly filing down the edges and polishing them with a fine Diamond stone and see if that helps.
You got the better video of the 3 that’s on here. Some better close ups of the internals and how the spring is supposed to go would be great. And show more how to reassemble. I found it tricky to keep the spring in place it keeps wanting to pop off. The bigger tab goes at the bottom and hooks around the plate and the blade. and the smaller one at the top, the plate can only go one way to move the little angled spring loaded thingies, maybe that’s what’s hanging up and not letting it fire out all the way and then retract with full force? It just seems like when it does it it’s in countering some resistance and stoping or slowing it down and causing it to hang up. Lemme know what ya think or have found out in the last couple months since you posted this! Thanks!
