Test Flight
Просмотров 38Месяц назад
The last of a number of 6 minute test flights of the Air 3 drone to improve my ability to switch cameras inflight. I had been losing video, by not practicing enough. Part of the problem was the small size of the on-screen controls.
Thanks for the video and eleavator music it put me to sleep
Nice video (and music as well.) I never seen the Deerfield yard before and this was a great view!🚂🚂🚂
Excellent taste in Motorcycles! Great content 👌
Thanks for sharing. Haven't been to East Deerfield since before they replaced the bridge.
Thanks for watching. There's not a lot of activity there these days. The economy isn't the greatest at this time.
Disappointed by the lack of Evel-Kneivel-style content after the promise of "Old man on a motorcycle [...] flying over Deerfield Rail Yard." 🤣
Sorry but this old man doesn't think Evel Kneivel had much style and his content was sorely lacking (e.g. rocket jump).
This brought back memories of my childhood, this is my home town. I spent a lot of time in this area of town. I grew up not too far up the road, one of my friends lived right up the street from the Baptist church. Thanks for the memories!
You are most welcome and thanks for letting us know!
Nice I went there today and saw NS 47A
Kudos and good for you. The yard is mostly dead whenever I have stopped by..
Love Music to Video Cool Music Love Video Thanks For Sharing Have a Safe day ✌️
Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed the video. Appreciate it!
@popscycle-john your Welcome have a wonderful Night 🌙
Very nice views of a classic, old New England town.
Thank you for the kind reply. We lived in Shrewsbury for almost 40 years.
Thanks for sharing, I haven't been there in years.
You are welcome. I got lucky this afternoon - caught a BERX unit shunting.
Great video, thanks for sharing. Looks like they made a new "railfan" bridge.
Thank you for letting me know you liked the video. Unfortunately, the new "railfan" bridge doesn't have the good view the old one did.
Nice video. I enjoyed watching it. I would have been even better if there were close-ups views of the locomotives. There were some unusual one's present, but I couldn't quite make them out.
Appreciate your response, especially the part about getting closer, which is something I will do in the future. Also, thanks for the kind words.
Thank you old man on a motorcycle. At 76 in September of this year I am also an old man. I haven't been on a motorcycle in about 50 years since my youngest brother was injured on his big Kowasaki 1000 barely escaping with his life. So I applaud you for sticking with the motorcycle. I also thank you for the video since I like all things train especially the steam locomotives and I am going to subscribe to your channel.
Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. Being in my 80s, it is getting more difficult each year to swing the leg over but I'll keeping doing it until I can't.
Nice video. Deerfield is hard to find and can have little action for long periods. However if you are patient, you can get lucky.
Made it to Deerfield one time!😀. Living in Richmond, VA I did work in the paper industry in the late 80's - early 90's and had an assignment in the region. I wish I could have seen the yard in the B&M days. Thanks for a great video. I have been to Bluefield, WVa several times and loved the sounds, smells and activity.
It was a much more active yard back then@@SOURWYMAN2011
Thank you for letting me know you liked the video. I probably need to devote a day to hanging around the yard and waiting for some action to video.
You say you are changing between cameras. Do you mean you are changing between resolutions? I am not familiar with the Air 3. I have an Air 2.
No, my drone has two separate cameras in the gimbal - one 24 mm and the other 70 mm.
@@popscycle-john After I asked the question I checked the specs on the Air 3. That is a very cool feature.
Great work. Nicely shot.
Thank you.
Excellent
Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed it!
@@popscycle-john may I suggest that the next time you visit the grist mill in Sudbury that you venture up Bowditch Road to the top of Nobscot Hill I grew up in Sudbury Your drone will have a beautiful trip on a sunny day and you will be able to see the Boston skyline and Mounts Wachusett and Monadnock; as well as Worcester’s skyline Try to get near Tippling Rock; as well
Great views especially of the Quabbin. Your videos are always interesting. Truly airplane views but closer! Thank you and ill be looking forward to the next adventure!!
As always, appreciate hearing from you and knowing when you like (or dislike) a video. Thanks.
Great Video thanks for sharing.
Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed the video!
Great vid! I worked in this mill back in the '80s! This vid brought back memories of when I was young, I grew up in Grafton. And, like so many others, found work in these mills. I even worked in the mill down the road. (gone now, burnt down) My dad built the machines that I would work on as a young teen. Thanks for a walk down memory lane!
Am glad to hear you enjoyed the video and thank you for commenting. It is great to hear from people who are connected with things in these videos!
I always liked how pretty much every house in the center is white. Theres one house on the left right before you get to the center from where you came from that had full on tennis courts and i think a basketball court and pool it was really nice years ago not sure if anyone's taking care of it anymore.
I agree with you on now nice all the houses in the center look. Also, thank you for your comments.
Nice work!
Thank you. Am happy to hear you enjoyed the video.
Splendid flyover Fitzwilliam John... One of my knocks about riding back east is the lack of open vistas like we have out west. But this! Just getting over the treeline reveals a very pleasing Arcadian landscape.
Your observati8on about the vistas here is one of the main reasons I have a drone. It's like having a periscope when you are submerged in the trees. Also, thanks for letting me know you enjoyed the video.
Thank you for another visit! You show views not seen from any road. The covered bridge was excellent.
It was nice of you to comment and let us know you liked it. Thanks!
You just got a new subscriber, great video btw!!
Thank you for the kind words and letting us know you liked the video!
Very nice!
Happy to hear you enjoyed it and thanks for letting us know!
That pile of "kindling" is not a welcome sight. Such a pile immolated, probably not by itself, years ago in Kansas City, KS in the West Bottoms. A contractor's inventory went up in smoke and quashed all rail activity for hours.
I certainly agree with you. Railroads need t find a way to dispose of that creosoted crap other than just piling it up.
Do you know what the road number is for the green Bay Line geep is shown moving couples to what looks like an ex-CN geep at 6:25?
I may have another photo of the Bay Line locomotive. Will check to see if I can get the road number.
I found the photo. The number is 3018.
great catches. Would have been nice ti have a zoom in on the ex-Berlin Mills box car at 6:12.
Thank you. Having gotten permission to launch from from the old mill yard owner, I was asked to stay within the confines of the mill area and not fly over the yard itself.
Thank you for sharing this! I've been living here in Fitzwilliam for over 5 years now and I love this quiet little town.
I think Fitzwilliam center is one of the most peaceful and scenic in New England. May you continue to enjoy it.
Great choice to visit. The colors and views were really nice. Thank you!
Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed it. I could have spent a little more time capturing the reflections and colors around the bridges.
There is a beautiful loneliness about the place. But it seems to feel loved still after all these years.
Yes, I had the feeling that the place was a little sad, missing the excitement of train travel was it once was.
Another good video! Thanks. Does that phone booth work? Lol Craig
Am happy you like it and hank you for the kind words. I've no idea about the phone booth as I was using it as shade so I could see the drone controller screen. The phone booth did make me think of Dr. Who, though.
I live close to the king Phillip and can hear the bells going off at the church from here also I can hear the train in Royalston from my house at night time if there's not a lot of traffic on rt2.
Thanks for reminding me that I should do a flyaround of the Royalston church structures.
@@popscycle-john are you allowed to fly over the dam in Royalston? That would also be a great spot.
Did you hear the bell go off at all? I think it goes off on the hr every hr. Also not sure if you've ever been in the library right there. They used to have a canoe on the wall inside made from a hollowed out tree. It was from the Narragansett Indians pulled out of queen lake. But the last time I was in there was prob the mid 90s. I would imagine they still have it in there tho.
I did not hear the bells while there and haven't been in the library. Thanks to you, I know there's something to go look at.
I recognize the red building and the church. Nice drone work. Im working on mine. So far only taken one small video with mine but its a start.
Thanks for the reply and good luck with your drone. Drone photography is a great hobby,
Where is that location (what state)? Looks it have former Guildford sandtowers, yet has aThe Bay Line GP40 in the yard, along way from it's home.
The location is Deerfield, MA, and is the old Pan Am Yard. Pan Am you may recall evolved out of Guilford and Springfield Terminal.
@@popscycle-john Thanks, I thought it was way up there. So I was correct to say the Bay Line geep is a long way from home (Florida/ Missisippi)
Nice video! Keep them coming.
Thank you. I hope to keep at it and get even better videos. Best regards, John
Looked at purchasing a spread of land to Homestead. Beautiful area
Yes, the word bucolic comes to mind when I ride through there.
@@popscycle-john that is but one of the things I miss about riding. So much more removed from the outside inside of an automobile one is. There was a freight train pulling South about the time you were there.I would say probably an hour either side of you. What time are you there, if I may? That little, narrow, road that crosses the railroad tracks used to be the original Route 27.
A really cool spot to fly around would be over the Quabin reservoir. See some of the old foundations left from the old town also dones falls in Royalston would be a cool spot and you got Tully dam not far from there too.
I agree but the area over Quabbin is a no-fly, restricted air space. I am not sure you can even get FAA permission for a flyover any more.
@@popscycle-john oh wow good to know lol
This must be the center of Hardwick/Gilbertville right?
It is Hardwick. The drone was launched near the Historical Society building.
I can't imagine the amount of labor and hard work that went into building that place back then. Thank you for another excellent video.
Thank you for the kind words. When building the farm during the 1870s depression, anyone who wanted to work at the farm was welcomed so I am thinking they had a lot of help. Most impressive is the stonework.
Thanks for the video
Nice movie👍
Thank you. Glad you liked it.
New sub from WV.....nice!!
Happy you enjoyed it!
Thanks for another great view of Town. Especially the train going by the Whistle Stop. Hope to see more videos now that Spring is here.
The train was pure luck and serendipity. Thanks for letting us know you liked the video.
SORELY Missed your videos! Hope all is well with you and your family. Your videos remind me that peace and civility still exist, if you are willing to look for them. Your camera work with the drone has always been super exciting. And I only expect that the new camera and drone, operated by you, will impress even more
Appreciate the reply and input. All is well with us and hope the same for you. With spring coming there will be more videos.
I spent some of my happiest moments in childhood, visiting my grandparents in Fitzwilliam, in the 60’s and 70’s. It hasn’t changed! Love this town ❤
Fitzailliam was one of our favorite videos. Thanks for letting us know you enjoyed it.
I love it! Beautiful job. I'm proud of our pretty little town !
Fitzwilliam is a beautiful place where I always stop when in the area. Am happy to hear from you on this!
The best 13 years of my life were the 13 years I owned my home in Rowe. Thanks for posting this. I sure do miss Rowe.
Just getting back in RUclips after winter's end, we're happy you enjoyed the views of Rowe. The town is one of our top places to stop when in the area. Hopefully I will do another flyover this spring as things start to bloom.
You have all the tools to make a good video and this slow boring shots of a church and a garage is what you decide to post?? Interesting
Some people like it and some don't. As much as I'd like to, I can't please everyone.
I liked it!
