বল্লাল ঢিপি নদিয়ার অন্যতম প্রত্নস্থল।[১] নবদ্বীপের নিকটবর্তী মায়াপুরে কাছে বামুনপুকুরে ভক্ত চাঁদকাজীর সমাধিস্থল থেকে উত্তর-পশ্চিম দিকে বল্লাল ঢিপির অবস্থান।[২] এই ঢিপির নিচে বল্লাল সেনের আমলে নির্মিত প্রাসাদ ছিল বলে অনুমান করা হয়। তবে বর্তমানে এটি পুরাকীর্তি সংরক্ষণ আইন অনুসারে এই অঞ্চল সংরক্ষিত করা হয়েছে। বল্লাল ঢিপি প্রায় চারশো ফুট প্রশস্থ ও উচ্চতায় পঁচিশ থেকে ত্রিশ ফুট।[৩] ঢিপিটি সবুজ ঘাসে মোড়া, আর চারিদিক কাঁটাতার দিয়ে ঘেরা রয়েছে। সেন বংশের রাজা বল্লাল সেনের নামানুসারে এই ঢিপিটির নামকরণ করা হয়েছিল। উৎখননের আগে অনেক ইতিহাসবিদ এটিকে সেন রাজাদের রাজধানী হিসাবে মনে করতেন কিন্তু বর্তমানে তা ভুল বলে প্রমাণিত হয়েছে।বিজয় নগর বা বিজয়পুর ছিল সেই সময়ের একটি অত্যাধুনিক শহর ও সেন বংশ...
