Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) is A Perfect Game [PART ONE]
Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) is truly the best Sonic game. In our year of Shadow, I want to talk about why this game is perfect. While I wanted this to be one huge video, I wanted to get something out before the movie, since I've been working on this for months.
I want to thank everyone who helped contribute to this. I put as many on-screen credits as I could. Additional credits can be found on a document listed in my Community Tab!
I hope you enjoy and will tune in for more! I want to talk about this entire game and how much I love it, not to mention highlighting all the care that was put into it which makes it so great!

A quick S rank for Act 1 of Tokyo in the Shadow Generations DLC for Sonic 3! I did this within the hour of the DLC dropping so there are likely ways to shave the time even more. Yes, I know the Chaos Control will save time (that was my first S) but this was just what I captured quickly!

RADICAL HIGHWAY ACT ONE - S Ranked without the Doom Wings (accessed by turning them off when you replay the level post campaign). Man, I've beaten this stage in 4:15 with over 360 rings and it just gives me a fat NOPE and slaps me with an A and "beat the stage 44 seconds faster to get an S rank". My record is literally 39,000. jeeze.

This goes so hard
Getting S ranks in most levels was very easy for me, I first tried the majority of them. But Radical Highway was insanely tough. Couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong until I tried not getting hit. When I finally beat it, I had a time of roughly 3:50 minutes and about 200 rings. Just wanted to see if there was a shortcut or something I missed, because nothing else in Shadow Generations has required this amount of perfection
I think it was actually closer to 300 rings or more, you do get a lot in this level
For anyone who still needs this: Sonic x Shadow Generations S ranks are ALWAYS going to be 40000 points on the score screen. The key to getting this is a combination of speed and high ring count. If you did this in the same time I did but the game is telling you it wasn't fast enough, it's because your ring count is not high enough. You cannot get hit (or only get hit at a point wherein you can make up your ring count, like before the final wing section).

Do you know how to beat the first phase that quickly? I very often get knocked off before I can get to the second phase of the fight. Do I just mash like a madman?
If you're getting knocked off, you're getting to the weakspot too late. You gotta try to get there as fast as you can. When the bubbles appear for you to homing attack onto, you really can't delay. You can use Chaos Control to give yourself more time to finish a flurry on the weakspot, but it's not needed if you're quick. The optimal way to fight this boss, which you don't see used in this video, is to save Chaos Control for right before you attack one of the wings when they slam down: this triggers a special sequence where the bubbles all explode and chain together to directly damage the weakspot, instead of them dispersing, eliminating the need to get to the weakspot yourself by continuing to homing attack the bubbles when they appear. This gives you a free Chaos Control too, so you can keep using this strategy until this phase is over. That said, this fight even on Hard gives you a lot of leeway for an S Rank. The aforementioned strategy lets you beat the boss in around 2:40 (40 seconds less of in-game time compared to this attempt) with a lot of points to spare, but as you can from this video, you don't have to do it to still have enough points.

Given how this is very much his "Black hearted evil or brave hearted hero?" phase of his film character, this song would fit perfectly.
im very confused.. I'm only 3 seconds above this time and my game's telling me I need to shave off another 22 seconds for the S rank. Why's it giving it to you for a 4:01

So the big confusion with the scoring in SxSG is an S rank simply means the score is over 40k. When the game tells you that you need X more seconds, it's bc it's basing the seconds calculation off you and your current ring count. It frustrated me too! You just need to do it fast and not get hit at all or be able to really make up your ring count when you get hit (I could've had much more room but I do get hit just before a big wing section, which boosts your rings). If your ring count is too low, it won't calculate. I don't know the exact math but it's something to that effect.
1:12 was the key for me. I legit was doing everything the same but didn’t do this trick. Thank you!!

@@typeriter2021 you see, he’s been getting his greasy hands everywhere, mainly action movies and his soundtrack just doesn’t deliver most of the time, he either butchers old themes or makes new mediocre tracks, he’s been the composer for the previous 2 sonic movies
