    Starting atar after these school holidays. I've spent so much time stressing over finding the perfect study techniques after teachers had us do multiple seminars and drilled into our heads the importance of Cornell notes, colour codes, etc. While these techniques do help, it's really comforting to hear that good grades are mostly just about determination, which I'm sure I can muster up with enough stress, and trusting your own process. Thank you for this.

    so the explicit links are more of those direct statements used in topic sentences and in the intro, whereas implicit links would be in the 'How' area of analysis to link your quotes to the prompt. makes sense.

    honestly there really isnt a good way to *study for a test*. why? if your weekly coursework is done with a passion, you should be prepared for your test. most people i see, sorta just do the assignments, and return most of their focus to work/personal life (trying to get work done efficiently, isnt an efficient way of learning,) they dont double down on the coursework. take each week bite by bite, and expand on all the knowledge, contemplate how who what when where why to everything you study. that is how i score high test scores atleast, i dont have the patience to review, or do flash cards, or any of that mess. i just "over study" when the work is assigned

  • @selfactualizer2099
    @selfactualizer2099 3 месяца назад

    actually, recall training is still considered the most effective method of study/training. however there is one key point to consider, and that is comprehension. a lot of people think "i know english, i know what im reading," but dont retain that information, slow down, spread the sections of a chapter out, digest the information slower, and think about each thing more extensively then whats written on the paper, then, combo that with recall training for reinforcement. the flash card should ask "why is this so?" more than "this is so."

    Hey Julian thanks for putting this out but I was just wondering: 1. When you categorise your arguments as logical, sympathetic, condemning etc..., isn't that sort of redundant since I guess logic isn't really a category of argument? Like shouldn't a logical progression of thought be a prerequisite to any argument? So what does highlighting it's presence actually do? Also shouldn't evoking emotions like sympathy and condemnation be as a result of author positioning? I feel including it in the topic sentence also doesn't really do anything. I know you said it's for VCAA but do you have any idea what their reasoning behind this is? 2. Do you have any tips on how to structure your progression of argument? Because right now I feel my writing is quite disjointed, and it's not a very flowing piece in the way that each topic sentence is not a natural continuation of the previous? Would appreciate a reply :)

    I used my own strategy and it's called DOMACE (Dedication, organisation, management, ability/agility, concentration and efficiency/effort). DOMACE system was introduced by me when I found out the abbreviations of ace in exams. When I used the DOMACE system, flashcards was the most neglectible tip, considering the excuses of not going to officeworks to buy flashcards once a week. However, I should take major obligations on some areas of DOMACE by acting it without saying. In other words, don't say, just act. In other comments, 'techniques don't matter' as what you've just mentioned is that I found out that every measures of study techniques does not vary depending on which type of techniques I like to use.
