Orion, you took me back with this one as this track title and hook would become part of many conversations as I grew up in NY in those times. We would use the “I know I told you ill be true, but Brenda got a big ole butt, so im leaving ” within conversations as a popular hook. Along with jiggling baby, but I personally liked jiggling baby better. Don’t know if you remember but in those days there was another song called “Doing the butt”by a group called E.U., in which Spike Lee is in as a director. As corny as that song was, it had all of us in NY also singing along to that hook..lol it was basically a dance. What happens is that in those days words, sentences, titles like these didn’t seem to make anyone insecure or uncomfortable. People know what they’re said and everyone understood what was meant. In those days it was about fun, house parties and just bugging out. Anyway, back to your deep dive, great piece and funny the points you made about the name “Brenda”. While worldwide is a great track without a doubt, the beat on the "Ice down medallions" was def a great one, too. He's def a relatable rapper as he's big on storytelling. Also like the track called "Regulate" where Mic Geronimo joins his Queens connect. Without a doubt the "Worldwide" got one of the illest beat after icedown medallions. That hook on Worldwide ".....keep ya mind on Queens when the dogs star barking.." boyyyy!!. Thanks for taking me back to listen to that cool album. Royal Flush is still making music you can check out a track called "All in" where he reps with other Queens peeps like Nutso. @@lex5449 bruh I remember copping the ghetto millionaire album in like 2002 it was at some random store in dolphin mall. Store literally had only 10 cdees and this was one of them. When I heard the album in its entirety I was like wow homie really put in work. I love the back and forth chemistry on regulate. Your right on the nose with his storytelling ability it’s displaced very well throughout the whole album. I give that album 4 mics

SSLP for me is a perfect album and is 5/5, it's his most classic album in my opinion.

better 1999 albums: 2001, things fall apart, internal affairs,
Chronic 2001 came out mid november 1999 so the year was already wrapping up. Internal Affairs although very fresh to me it did not push the same envelop slim shady did. Things fall apart was great no doubt but I don't know I feel the Eminem album was so fresh so new it got way more replay from me. Again mos def's album for me atleast offered the same amount of replay.
