Alaska Highway through the Northern Rockies! This was supposed to be an 8 hour drive but with so many wildlife sightings and beautiful scenic stops along the way, it turned into a 10 hour drive. We would definitely do this section of the Alaska Highway in two days in the future because there are so many more stops and areas to explore!

Finally made it to Manitoba! Had to make last minute changes and decided to drive right through Manitoba and into Saskatchewan in order to stay on schedule. The straight flat highway allowed us to drive a little faster too 😜

Road trip to Tuktoyaktuk! Arriving at Aaron P.P. for our second night in Northern Ontario

From Lake Superior P.P. to Aaron Provincial Park. What was supposed to be an eight hour drive, turned into a ten hour drive. I guess we under estimated how many stops we would have to make with a toddler and a 15 year old dog 🐶. At least now we know that we have to hit the road earlier tomorrow to stay on schedule to make it to the Arctic Ocean by the end of the week.

After a long time of planning and scheduling campsites we were able to begin our road trip from Brampton, Ontario to Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories! We decided to start the trip on September 7th, since it was when most parks had available sites and the weather was still nice. We estimated one week of travelling would be enough to get us to Tuktoyaktuk. We had a total of three weeks to make ...

any concerns/issues, staying in a rooftop tent (wildlife)... assume you put your food/cooking equipment into the cab of the truck each night?

Definitely had concerns before the trip, so we took bear spray with us as a last resort and peace of mind. Fortunately we didn’t have to use it in the entire 3 weeks trip. We did make sure we cleaned all our cooking equipment and placed any food and utensils inside the cab of the truck as you mentioned each night. We also noticed even people with trailers doing that, instead of keeping the food in the trailer where they slept. Also, most the sites in BC and Yukon have food storage lockers if you don’t feel comfortable putting it inside your vehicle. As for being in a rooftop tent, it felt very safe. We have windows on all 4 sides giving us a 360 clear view of the surrounding area which was nice whenever we had to leave the tent in the middle of the night to use the bathroom or walk our dog.
