If your a Kinesiology major can you become and athletic director ? I know you have to coach for 2-4 years so I assume going straight into it isn’t possible

Any degree can be an AD. But yes, Kinese, PE, Ex-Sci, are desired. You can go straight into AD if someone hires you. But if you're in college you will have to do an internship to graduate. Choose an internship shadowing an AD. Try coaching youth sports like YMCA to get some hands on.

From the athletic director I interviewed for a class they would prefer if you have experience in the education field and coaching field

a teaching credential for sure helps , depending on specific districts its required. Also coaching experience 100%, some districts prefer a head coach position in a varsity level of 2-4 years. I know athletic directors who never expected to land in such position, and others who were PE teacher and coaches and later found themselves in such role. I'm personally going for an athletic director career, and I have yet to meet an athletic director who wanted to become an athletic. so they encourage me , and help me with opportunities. I coach at a High school varsity team as an assistant, and also as a assistant coach at a community college as well. hope that helps.
