ISTP and INFJ in "THE GRIP"
A discussion between an ISTP and INFJ on what are each like in what MBTI calls "The Grip". We are sisters and best friends living together and get along very well considering we're technically very conflicting types.
As an ISTP I hate attention on me at any given moment and I had just had a mental break down so yes as you can tell in the video I was very uncomfortable. I never take selfies or videos so this was intense for me lol

I had a Similar convo the other day with my entj Mom as an isfp. It seems to me that we feelers are just better at processing the emotions right away and actually taking our time staying in the feels, while most thinkers tend to shift focus from the feelings as soon as they think they have a solution that they can take action on. In the long run this seem to hurt them since these seemingly ”resolved” BUT UNPROCESSED emotions keeps building up within them… on the other hand as the infj said, feelers tend to get indulgent when we go into process mode, but in the end that is what makes us more aware of our feelings, more ”zen” and in control of our feels, which I find most T types have to fight with holding back anger and frustration that just seem to come out uncontrollably or in bursts to some extent…🙃 GREAT VID THANK U. <333

Youre right about grip experience, i get typed as ISTP and had a several month long grip experience, each day i would just have this constant background emotionality, it would randomly suddenly engulf me and I wouldnt be able to focus on what I was doing due to this sudden emotional onslaught, which needless to say as ISTP i was not equipped to deal with any emotion, let alone constant ongoing emotionality when I dont know where its coming from

Too true, wow, too true. Feeling or maybe more so acknowledging more than one emotion at a time for an ISTP is very overwhelming

@@lilladybug137 I think also it sent my dominant functions into overdrive trying to logically solve all these emotions and where they were coming from. Because emotions arent logical this exhausted me mentally. This always happens when I start liking someone, because ISTPs are a bit cold and unfeeling I feel unworthy of someone else’s affection deep down, and also kind of hate myself for even needing affection from others.

@@matthew3774That broke my heart… maybe consider that you wouldn’t think that someone who is bad at logical thinking isn’t deserving of your rational advice, so why wouldn’t u deserve affection just because you show affection less, or maybe have a different way of showing it? You’re only human at the end of the day, and there is no perfect love language. Please re-evaluate, u seem like you’re worth the while.

@@naletai Sincere thanks, I am trying to realise this a bit more. My first thoughts are that I would feel that someone who is bad at logical thinking needs my advice more than anyone else. So conversely, an emotive person may feel that someone who is unemotional needs their affection more than anyone else? Just throwing ideas out there!

if only two choices are left worrying in trade ... which trade is most suitable for istp personality, choose one of them and give the logical reason based on istp's personality itself ... a mechanic or an electrician ... thank you, God bless you

My ISTP boyfriend is a good listener, too. ^^ I think, it works well, we can talk well. Sometimes I just miss some feelings.. But better this, than missig logic. :D Greetings from Germany! MBTI is mostly unknown here. PS: I'm an INFJ. :D

Great video, thanks for sharing this! I’m also an NFJ who has had a fair amount of experience in the grip. It’s super interesting to hear about others experience in that state. I can get so self-indulgent, it’s ridiculous lol. I also get really critical of others and controlling of my environment. To get out of it, I will meditate and connect with my heart and the wellbeing of those around me. That practice has been a life-saver! Do you two see the similarities in your Ni-Ti / Ti-Ni loops? That’s something I’d like to hear more about!

I really never thought about it until I saw your question but now that I’ve done some research on loops yes, I definitely see some similarities! I need to have my INFJ sis do more of the research though for more information. It’s more her thing haha.
