Served on the America and the Eisenhower (75-79) in VF-142. E5 Pratt & Whitney TF-30 P414 mechanic assigned to the ship's intermediate engine shop. Changed many 1st Stage Fan Blades on that engine. Could still do it today.
My old outfit. '83-'86. Aviation electronics tech. Commanders Sumnick and Letter. Served with some of the finest men I'll ever know. Ghostriders forever!!!!
I was never in the military service , but my father and brother were, now I was living in Upstate New York in 90 -91 , till this day my father never understood how much i loved him , and how much the thrill to go into Roosevelt Roads and see the F14 on the tarmac,or even just being there to see them...I had such a fascination with the F14 ,and wanting to enjoy the base ...only went inside 3 times ...never got to enjoy what he never knew inside my heart ..Good bye Tomcat and Roosevelt Roads...
Tailhooker2 yess !!! You guys rock , Seriously ! Always was in more Curious the RIO , part too ... Please do down load more, please forgive me , I was person that read and watched videos on jet Aviation , after my 30 year I lost alot of my interest in Aviation and forgot alot too...But maybe you can clear something for me , Were RIOs trained to fly aswell , I had certain doughts the were left in the past ?
I did 2 different Assignments with 142. One while Enlisted and again when Commissioned for my "Nugget" Cruise. Sadly VF-142 was Disestablished in 1995.
Excellent. Was a stupid mistake to retire the upgraded Bs and new Ds with those new engines and systems. They have not and will not be replaced by anything else currently flying. Loved the vid.
This was kick ass until 0:35 sec in... then it became as cheesy as all the rest these flying videos.... for the freaking love of GOD... stop it with the crappy music and flying videos. What the hell is wrong with just playing natural sound???
Wow i was just asking , i only got to go in about 7 times and only was able to take a picture of a few back in 1987...later in 1996 saw 2 flying over the Urbanization were i used live in the Island....that base was huge...!!
i live right next to Calverton where all 700+ cats came from, i have been to NAS Oceana as well, Calvertons daily airshow was the best for almost 36 years, always caused traffic on rte 25 :--)
I remember being there at Oceana the day VF-142 was disestablished it was amazing but yet heartbreaking, it's a damn shame most badass aircraft to ever grace the sky
To Cbuchanan1000; My name is John Griffith and I was stationed with your dad and was pretty goods friends at one time. Good to meet you!! Ws your dad the AE Buchanan? Could you get a message to him to have hime contact me through FB? Thanks a million!
I was a Ghostrider from 1981-1984. I remember "Buck". Those were the days when F-4's were being phased out. We had the most awesome pilots and crew back when cruises were 9 months long. Work Hard, Play Hard!!! Rick Hanson
Ghostrider from 1990-1994.

Not as good as when the RAF Jaguars did it. ruclips.net/video/AZQ8l59u01k/видео.html
Great plane because of the great men who flew and fought in it.
Why is there no sound?
I’m a simple man….. I see the Tomcat, I click “like” and watch.
Wondering if anyone here knew my great grandad Captain Jack “Daddy Jack” Bent?
Do you know who has the previous cruise video from Eisenhower, done to Deep Purple's smoke on the water?
This is Rick's (callsign "kid") son trying to find some info on the f-14. He doesn't talk much about his time but I plan to fly as he did. I'm 21 now
Served in VF142 / America / Eisenhower 75 through 79. Tomcat's forever.

If the A-10 can still be in service, why not the Tomcat? This video makes me sad that the military retired the F-14. #TomcatLivesMatter
The A-10''s a relatively simple plane, therefore cheaper to fly & maintain, whereas the Tomcat, is nowhere near any of those things.
7 Libyan pilots disliked this
Fantástico f14 tom cat

Very smart move to retire the F-14 it's was a nightmare just to keep it serviceable not to mention the cost.
johnny cash from 1979 album"silver"
+ILSRWY4----a shame you hate a country western classic from 1948.
I was on this cruise.
Was this the first or last part of 91? I made the sept to march cruise with 143.
I wanna say middle. Sometime after the nose cone came off on LT.CDR. Edwards.

+saburu sakai Yes, it was strange move. F-14D was a worlds best air superiority fighter and strike fighter.
