Grandmaster Caz and Grandmaster Melle Mel - Hip Hop History
Did this show ever come out
Dos leyendas.
Ask Tariq Nasheed about the Real origins of Hip Hop . He even made a movie
Great 👍🏻 Content!
I don't trust GWT.
"How You Do It D" is a underrated cut on that album
Thougher Than Leather Album and single. Was definitely a classic. Flat out
Tougher than leather is the real meaning of NWA in my multiverse
ARE YOU KIDDING?! THIS WAS THEIR GREATEST ALBUM!
Love that album 💯it’s after that he’s talking about
1988 Hip Hop was On Another Level, that Golden Age Era will always be my favorite!! 50 years old and still think about all the artists, and groups who conquered the airwaves!!! East Coast had the best line up from Alliance to X-Clan, then the Miami sound 2Live Crew and MC Clay D, Atlantas MC Shy D and West Coast Ice-T, Too $hort, NWA, Rodney O Joe Cooley King Tee, SirMixAlot, Def Jef, Mellowman Ace, Kid Frost.
The micro animosities between Run and DMC and Jay revolving around the album Tougher than Leather, DMC should've made a solo album with his likeness that way it would not interfere with what the other half of the group were trying to do!!
I strongly disagree. Tougher Than Leather is a classic from front to back. Period.
Boot Camp Clik 🔥🪖💨
Def Squad 🔥🚨🎯
Great interview 🔥⚡🔋
Yeah, yeah 🔥♨️🎯
In all honesty DMC , the GOLDEN ERA was TOO ADVANCED for YOU. I think RUN could've HUNG with what was going on...... but YOUR SIMPLICITY had you STUCK in the EARLY 80's. And this is being said with the utmost LOVE & RESPECT FOR RUN DMC. As a FAN of YOURS, Y'all DEFINITELY INFLUENCED MY LOVE FOR HIPHOP, but it was RAKIM that made me decide to start EMCEEIN MYSELF. EVERY MC DOESN'T necessarily HAVE to be SUPER LYRICAL.......BUT.......in a time of ADVANCEMENT........ BE ABLE TO ADVANCE. When RAKIM, KRS ONE, BIG DADDY KANE & KOOL G RAP came on the scene, things were ADVANCING in EMCEEIN. LL COOL J was able to HANG; so was ULTRAMAGNETIC MCS, EPMD, HEAVY D, SALT & PEPA, SLICK RICK ,etc. It was NO TIME for NURSERY RHYMIN any more. PEACE & LOVE to YOU FOREVER & ALWAYS, BIG BRO. YOUR LEGENDARY STATUS IS UNDENIABLE & YOUR LEGACY is SET IT STONE.
Hop hop dont stop
Hip hop don't stop
I dunno, I get that it was hard to follow up Raising Hell, and the rest of the landscape had changed, but IMO Tougher Than Leather STILL stands up there with anything in history, including the older RUN DMC stuff. A-Z, that album was KILLER and I played it as much as I played the prior 3 records.
that makes all the sense in the world now. I remember back then thinking what are they doing this is nothing like run dmc and it was wack. no one rocked with it. you just never know wowww
Murray Richman is a barbiturate liar see what he says that the minorities gets not a fair Shake he's just saying that so you can get black client so you can railroad them and put them in jail he don't give a f*** about black white and the only thing he cares about is green money he's a rat lawyer he works for the government he works for the FBI wake up everybody he's been a rat lawyer since the 70s he was going to be indicted in the seventies the late seventies Day game an ultimatum if you work with us we won't invite you and that's what he did don't let this f****** manipulating liar he says he cares about the minority and they don't get a fair Shake donate some of that money to the South Bronx that you ride from everybody all the old time gangsters they never used him cuz they know he was a rat another rappers don't use him no more nobody uses him everybody knows he's a rat lawyer he's scum of the Earth he's 100% a rat for the government the FBI and the district attorneys
Yeah you was a detective in the Bronx and Murray used to give you all the information Murray's a rat lawyer it's been a racist 1977 they believe they were going to dye them and then he became an informant nothing but a liar and a rat
Tougher Than Leather was a great album! Yall may have not be advanced as Kane, Rakim or G Rap but yall held it down on the square you never left. Didn't need to advance.
I remember my god mother took me to see the next Nightmare on Elm street. the trailer for Tougher Than Leather came on. I went nuts!!! I didn't care about Freddy anymore! I walked out of the movie and said to her. You gotta take me to see Tougher Than Leather!! 🤘🏼
Going to rock around the clock! You can't say im not! And in case you forgot! Im the Kiiiiiiing Of Rock!!!!
I would love to hear old school Mel Rhymes
Beats to the Rhyme should have been a monster hit ….he said it well!
I swear I watch this once a year
DMC is the best 🎤 He is also my high school classmates!!
Words of wisdom from the King DMC
Tate 1:07:37 None higher
I better call Sal!
Extraordinary

Robert Hanssen died in prison on June 5th 2023. He was 79.
good
Bo & Joey: 'nuff said
Only true OG’s know anything about Soul Sonic Force! And I’m a cracker.
3:45 he better got paid for this
This is a great podcast! I'm dipping my nipples in pudding and calling the cops! BUTOBO!
Great Interview
Even though Tougher than Leather was weaker than cotton, it at least had some joints like Beats to the Rhyme, Runs House and forget Mary Mary why you buggin' never really cared for that when my female cousin bought the single on a 45 record in July 1988
Tougher Than Leather was wack, except for Beats, Runs house and They Call us run dmc... but the rest is outdated... too much heavy drum machine type beats.... and back from hell was dope but they overused the classic DMC shouting like in the beggining on beats to the rhyme
I hated The Tougher than Leather album too which was just never that tougher and hated Mary, Mary yuck
I always liked DMC's straight forward style...the voice was what made him so dope. What he did on "Hit It Run" was so dope..the one liners, the internal rhymes..Dope! Run had that energy and you could tell he was hip to the new styles. JMJ was not the flashiest DJ but he was always on point and such a dope live show DJ.
But that opening hits so hard on Tougher than leather.
RUclips is absolutely full of people regurgitating info that came directly from Murder Machine which anyone can read for themselves.
Why do people regurgitate stories we’ve all read about in Murder Machine as if nobody else has read it for themselves?
Because why not. Most people have NOT read Murder Machine, so I am thankful that these fine people expose the truths.
@@Ealdorman_of_Mercia how do you know. It’s widely referenced and acknowledged by so many people and these stories get told as if it’s their own findings. Nothing is being ‘exposed’.
what's 'Murder machine'?
@@dizmop a book about the DeMeo crew first published in 1992. Absolutely superb and terrifying read which really kicked off the public fascination of Roy DeMeo and his crew of psychopaths. Much plagiarized and taken from in shows like this.
You ever watch a movie 🎥 over and over because its so fascinating? Ghoulish? Thats why. Matt NYC
Grandmaster caz was the first mc I heard back in the 70's growing up as a kid.
