Sloomb Newborn Fitteds Comp and Review
Here is a look at the different Sustainablebabyish Soomb newborn fitteds. I used the XS and S sized Overnight Bamboo Fleece Fitteds, Happy Little Clouds size 1 fitted, and the Snapless Mini Fitted on my newborn.
The Overnight Bamboo Fleece Fitteds are made from a T-shirt like bamboo fabric that starts out very soft and floppy but slowly firms up over time. It is still soft to the touch, but no longer floppy or stretchy. For older babies, this is not a big issue. I like using these on my toddler because of how super absorbent they are, but for my newborns, I am not so fond of the material. Size wise, the XS fit my daughter from birth (she weighed a little over 7 lbs at her smallest) until a...

Here is a close look at the newborn sizes of the Green Mountain Diaper (GMD) Clotheez Workhorse fitted diapers. In this video, I talk about fit, fabric types and differences, closure differences and advantages of each, nighttime usability, and my personal feelings about these diapers. I even have some pictures of the newborn size on my one week old baby. I really like these newborn fitteds for ...
Disana Newborn Wool Cover Review
Просмотров 2 тыс.4 года назад
Here is my review on the Disana Wool Covers sizes newborn and 3-6 month. The Newborn size fit my daughter from birth to about 11 lbs, and the 3-6 month size fit from about 7 lbs to 14 lbs. I loved these wool covers! They were my favorites for night time use because they were not only thick and absorbent/water resistant, but they also came up high on her belly for added protection and were stret...
GMD Half Flat Comparison - Muslin, White, and Organic
Просмотров 4905 лет назад
A comparison of the Green Mountain Diaper brand Clotheez Half Flats that are meant for use in the newborn stage. This covers their Muslin Newborn Flats and both White and Organic Birdseye Half Flats, showing their relative size, absorbency, and fit on a newborn. Flats are a wonderful choice for cloth diapering newborns since they are inexpensive, easy to clean, and quick to dry. They can also b...

4 Great Folds for the GMD Muslin Half Flat
Просмотров 9 тыс.5 лет назад
Folds include the Diaper Bag, Airplane, Modified Origami, and Pad Fold. These folds all work very well with the Green Mountain Diaper Half Flats because the diaper does not need to be square to work. These muslin half flats are great for the newborn stage, and they can also be used as pocket stuffers and boosters for later on. They can be found at GreenMountainDiapers.com. Product page link is ...
Half Flat: The Pad Fold
Просмотров 3075 лет назад
Here is how to do a classic Pad Fold on the GMD Clotheez half flats, both the muslin and the birdseye. The Pad Fold is arguably the most used flat fold due to its simplicity and many uses. Use it to stuff a pocket diaper, simply lay in a cover, or use it as a booster inside of another diaper. This fold makes these half flats useful for baby's entire diapering years and not just for the first ne...
Half Flat: Origami Fold
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.5 лет назад
Here is how to do a modified Origami Fold on the GMD Clotheez half flats, both the muslin and the birdseye. The origami fold on the muslin works better for your typical newborn because it has a longer rise, where the origami on the birdseye half flat has a very short rise that is best for preemies and very small newborns. These folds can be used on other half flats as well. Just keep the measur...
Half Flat: Kite Fold
Просмотров 7105 лет назад
Here is how you do a Kite Fold on the GMD Clotheez half flats; both the muslin and the birdseye. The Kite Fold is a classic for newborns, and for good reason. It works well for both boys and girls, has an adjustable rise, and has the ability to roll in tight jelly roll legs to hold in that runny newborn poop. It is a favorite of many, myself included. These folds can be used on other half flats...
Half Flats: Diaper Bag Fold
Просмотров 1 тыс.5 лет назад
Here is how you do the Diaper Bag Fold on the GMD Clotheez half flats; both the muslin and the birdseye. The Diaper Bag fold works really well on these half flats. It has most of the absorbency up in the front, so it is ideal for a boy. However, the back in really thin, which can cause runny newborn poop to seep through - something to keep in mind especially if you are using wool covers. It may...
Half Flat: Airplane Fold
Просмотров 5025 лет назад
Here is how you do a modified Airplane Fold for the GMD half flats, both the muslin and the birdseye. It works really well on these. The Airplane Fold has relatively even absorbency throughout, which makes it good for boys and girls as well as side and back sleepers. The rise is adjustable, and it is also easy to do jelly roll legs, making this an ideal fold for newborns. These folds can be use...
GMD Half Flat Comparison - a quick view
Просмотров 2655 лет назад
Here is a quick comparison of Green Mountain Diaper's Clotheez half flats; muslin and white birdseye. Their organic birdseye is very, very similar to the white birdseye half flat in size, shape, and absorbency, so I did not feel the need to show it. For quick comparison, the muslin half flat measures about 16 x 26 inches and absorbs about 8 oz. The birdseye half flat measures about 14 x 27 inch...
Rumparooz OS Cover Review
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.5 лет назад
My review of the Rumparooz One Size Cover. This diaper cover can very possibly fit your baby from birth until potty training, depending on your baby's size, shape, and when they toilet train. The Rumparooz OS cover is said to fit a baby from 6 to 35 pounds. It does get small enough for a typical newborn and still barely fits my daughter at 31 months and 30 lbs, though it is one of my smallest o...

How to fix a snag in a Disana Wool Cover
Просмотров 4525 лет назад
How I fixed my toddler's wool cover after she pulled a thread in it. There are other ways, but I have found this to be the simplest. 1. Gently try to work the thread back along the snag, releasing tension in the pulled thread and shortening the loop. 2. Tie a knot at the base to close up the hole the snag created. 3. With a small crochet hook, pull the loop inside, between the two layers of kni...

I cut my own flats since I already have a bolt of birds eye and either I cut them off by 3" or the dryer shrank them again on the second wash. Now I don't have even folds. Are even folds an essential?

Anyone heard about the issues of leaking through their brand logo in the back? Lots of negative reviews about that on Amazon, so just wondering how valid and to what extent (taking too long to change? Heavy wetter babies? Wrong fit ?)

I was thinking about cutting my flats in half to make them half-flats. The shapes you’re showing looks like half-flats aren’t necessarily just full size cut in half?? Thanks!

It depends on which flats you are using. GMD's Newborn half flats are half the size of their LARGE flats. So if you have their large flats (or Nicki's Diapers large flats that are about the same dimension as the GMD large muslin), then yes, they will be about this size if you cut in half and sew the edges. One size flats will likely be too small though. Assuming you are using GMD OS flats, if you cut them in half, they will be about 1.5 inches smaller on the long end and 1 to 1.5 inch smaller on the short side once hemmed (and a good 2-2.5 inches smaller on the long end if using Nicki's, Imagine, or Osocozy OS flats). That would be very small on a newborn as the GMD birdseye half flats are already pretty small. (My daughter outgrew the birdseye around 9 to 10 pounds, though the muslin fit longer, closer to 12 -14 pounds in an airplane or diaper bag fold) If you have the OS flats, I think you would be better served to use them in a mini kite fold, but if you have the size large, then I don't see any problems cutting them in half to make your own newborn flats. Hope that helps.

    • @thechangingtable3399

2 per size works well for me, but I only used them at night. I think 4 per size is what most full time wool mamas say.

I don’t like the attached tongue. I used a seam ripper and took them off carefully. I wanted the option to add hemp inserts or bamboo with a cotton top so I keep the tongues to place on top of bamboo or hemp. It also makes it easier to place them where needed. I can use the newborn detached tongues in other sizes of GMDs to avoid so much bulk in all areas.

The disana numbers are standard European sizes for baby clothing. The number is the baby's lenght in centimeter. These days European baby clothing often also has the average age in months/years on it, but it's less accurate for babies that were born premature or are on the big side. Weight is probably the most accurate measurement for clothing. I intend to buy some of these at some point, the reviews I've seen are all very positive, although I've heard you can't put any clothing over it as it's too bulky.

Thanks for sharing! I inherited some of this size muslin and didn’t think that the same folds for the Birdseye half flat worked as well for these. Baby is due in a few weeks, so haven’t tried them yet, but I’ll attempt the airplane and modified origami on baby girl to see how they work!
