Looking for intelligent opinions here.. A forum member wrote “XRP lost its use case when stablecoins came into existence”. What is your take on this? I own some XRP but I don’t find many enthusiastic investors in it.
Hey there, actually have not looked into XRP for a while now and can‘t speak on its use cases. I know the price action has been quite flat and I believe they pivoted to some smart contract functionality? I think I saw they launched a course in that vein with our friends at Easy A! I guess generally I‘ve heard a similar lack of enthusiasm from people (and the market as reflected in the price I suppose). However, I‘ve also heard similar sentiments from people on Polkadot, even though extremely interesting tech is being developed there. Didn‘t XRP launch a stablecoin actually?
27:38 guessing you meant to say S&P 500? There are ways to invest in bundled crypto projects [in a centralized environment] with some of the ETFs that Grayscale and Bitwise have already launched. But yeah, a decentralized ETF solution on DeFi would be ideal! Great interview Shawn
Yes! I believe he also specifically referred to token pools managed by DAOs. One example (that you might be familiar with) is the decentralized treasury on Polkadot which is managed by $DOT holders and which holds more than just $DOT at this point (I believe other than 130m+ $ worth of $DOT, it holds USDT and USDC amongst other coins): assethub-polkadot.subscan.io/account/14xmwinmCEz6oRrFdczHKqHgWNMiCysE2KrA4jXXAAM1Eogk Appreciate your attention to detail, Billy! 🫡
@@teachmedefi for sure - however, the Polkadot Treasury DAO holdings are currently held as separate assets for the purpose of maintaining a healthy treasury balance to be spent on Polkadot ecosystem initiatives. Hence the term “treasury”. Kinda like the Fed Balance Sheet in the US that is made up of many holdings [eg, bonds etc]. As far as I know, there is no way to trade the value of the “Fed Balance Sheet” …but maybe i’m wrong. Now, if one could BUNDLE those DAO holdings into a single, tradable, tokenized asset [aka a decentralized ETF/ETP] called, let’s just say $PDAO, where the value of the $PDAO token rises and falls based on the combined market value of the individual bundled assets [eg; $DOT, $USDC, $USDT, $KSM, etc], then THAT would be an interesting evolution for DeFi. I don’t know of any assets trading like that at the moment on DeFi. Interested to know if anyone else here has.
