2023 Mic Shootout: Schoeps-Sennheiser-Golden Age
Schoeps CMC641 vs Sennheiser MKH50 vs Sennheiser e614 vs Golden Age FC4 (hypercardiod).
At work I had access to the finest dialog mics, and I own 2 of the cheapest alternatives. How do they measure up against each other? This test consists of both male and female voices reading the same script, and all four mics were used at the same time. Not a quiet studio, so take that into consideration.
Blind test in random order, with mics identified at the end. Shootout was recorded in Feb. 2023.

815Cinema assisted the 2024 NIU BFA cohort with a series of films they wrote to showcase their talents. The students produced and were the main crew for the productions while 815Cinema supplied camera and additional crew.

This film had its world premiere January 21, 2023, at the Egyptian Theatre in DeKalb, Illinois. I was director of photography, camera operator, visual effects editor, and editor. Making this film was one of highlights of my career so far and the main reason I want to continue making narrative films.
