    LOL, dude I was "diagnosed" put on your little medications, was miserable throughout school, still couldn't even focus just felt suppressed. Tried to not take them, mom would shove them down my throat. I wish I had known about what Dr. Berg was talking about because now that I am older, have access to better nutrition, gyms, my own research, I am completely fine from this "ADHD". On TOP of that, if only I had Dr. Bergs advice in the early 2000s, my parents and I could've figured it out and cut the learning curve in half. You've spent so much money on getting your degree and so much time studying, you're not even looking at the harmful effects of these drugs. Keep being smug and ignoring the facts bud.

    You would think that anything that reduces inflammation body wide, including the brain, could help the condition despite it having a genetic component. This is true in many conditions. Inflammation is at the root of many health issues.

    Thank you so much for this video. My daughter was recently diagnosed with DMDD and just had her first outburst in her new kindergarten class. I was able to send this link to her teacher and hopefully we will be able to get her local therapist in the school soon to work with teaching them how to handle it. But this is a great place to start! 🎉

    How do children ever learn to deal with the stress of hearing, "No," if the solution offered to staff and parents is to never tell their child, "No." Isn't this reinforcing fragility? It seems to me that therapy and success in life in general is more about learning to build a tolerance to stress and respond appropriately rather than to avoid stress altogether. Are the people helped with this today, who might in fact have less outbursts in their childhood, going to begin weeping or raging when told "No," as adults because they've never been given the opportunity to control their temper in non-coddling circumstances?

    I disagree. Diet and lifestyle plates a big role. Most of these genetic problems can be improved by diet, treating of vitamin deficiencies and lifestyle changes. That doesn’t take away the fact that it’s genetic, but it does make it clear that you can make it worse or better by your own choices.

My son was diagnosed with ADHD, however I am trying to get evaluation at the school because I believe my son is suffering from anxiety after being exposed to domestic violence his behavior changed at school and home. He was traumatized, he regressed started wetting on himself and sucking his thumb. Before the incident, he was a happy child and caring.

    I respectfully disagree. It is in my experience that talking to your child limiting their phone time and trying the passive eay of doing things only shows one thing and that is weakness. All you are doing is teaching your child that if I do somrthing wrong all I will receive is a stern talking to and a light hesrted chore. That is teaching nothing and only grooming the child to believe that his/hes actions wont lead to severe consequences. Then the behavior escalates because of this passive way of thinking and now you have an entitled adult that believes they can get away with anything. Then the adult does something gets arrested and wonders why the punishment is so harsh. Passive punsihment parenting doesnt work bottom line.

    I have to admit, I was in total disagreement with you in regard to your view against punishment for behavioral management. I grew up in an area where that was the main method to deal with defiance and disorderly conduct. And as a product of it, I can say it does indeed work. But I listened more intently a second time on taking notes, and you do have some great insights on ideas on dealing with the challenging behaviors for the client diagnosed with DMDD. There are so many resources available. It’s a little hard to know how to recommend one in particular other than sticking to professional treatment. If you would like to let me know one or two more specific behaviors that are particularly troublesome then I can try to do a video response with some thoughts. Thanks again and best of luck with him.

    The peanut allergy analogy might not work well in these situations because kids don’t have to eat peanuts, but they DO have to have accountability for their actions and age appropriate responsibilities, like hygiene. You can keep allergens out of the house, but you can’t make a child’s body not need proper sleep or be capable of only eating the sugary foods they like. You mention keeping the child healthy, but what about once you’ve established safety and now you need to address the triggers that are necessary to living a competent life. No good parent wants to plan for their child to rely on them for the rest of their lives when the child could have been taught to sustain themselves in adulthood.

    • @DrCyrusVeil
      @DrCyrusVeil Год назад

      I appreciate the thoughtful comment. However I am always a little unsure of what is meant by accountability in these situations. I do agree it’s a good thing in general but I think it is better to focus first on getting behavioral change. Sometimes it is easy for us to act out our own frustration with kids in ways that may contribute to the problem. Agreed that parents want their kids to be able to manage themselves later in life. That gets complicated by appropriate developmental and psychiatric expectations for the kiddo in the present. Just my 2 cents. Again, thanks for commenting!

The psychologist said "Oh, that's normal! Don't worry." YEAH RIGHT! The priest said he was possessed and must be exorcized because the ghost of Ted Bundy is controlling his actions.
