    I'm no expert so I'd like to have your feedback. I think that the dry spot might be owed to the extra layers you put on the back which led the flow to choose the quickest path. I was actually wondering why you just used 1 inlet and 1 outlet with so much space to fill. At first I though about an inlet from above but you risk not to get resin on the bottom. Seeing that, I would have possibly done 2 ways: 1) same as you plus a second inlet from above in the rear part 2) same as you but starting the inlet from the rear part, so it gets resin first. And maybe 2 outlets to be clamped avcording to the direction you want the flow to have.

    • @yannickver
      @yannickver 9 дней назад

      Hello, I’m not an expert either. I just try to make boards and to improve my technique every time. So thanks for your feedback. The board is small so 1 inlet should be enough. The path the epoxy has to flow should be maximum +/- 500mm, as my board is only 430mm width this is ok. I also prefer to have slow infusions (that’s also the reason I use slow curing epoxy). I think the biggest mistake I made on this board is that I only used flow media on 1 side of the board, I should have done it on both sides. I should also have put more flow media: the area with resin brakes was almost larger than the area with flow media. Adding more inlets is always a possibility but I think this board is too small to need multiple inlets. A better positioning of the flow media in this case could have prevented the dry spot.

    Why did you choose infusion ?

    • @yannickver
      @yannickver 13 дней назад

      I choose for infusion as it is a clean technique, with standard wet lamination you have resin everywhere. When well done it also gives you the correct fibre/resin ratio (60:40 fibre to resin). My goal is to make light constructions, the strength of your composite comes from your fibres so you just want enough resin to keep everything together. Too much resin increases the weight of your board but not the strength.

    RE- the extra weight. PVC foam is VERY porous on its outer layer. If you try to wet laminate some fiberglass on a small section (so you can see through it) you will find that it takes a ton of epoxy to fully wet out the pores on the the Dcell. You should fill it with the lightest possible fairing compound you can find (West 410) in order to keep the weight down. You can then give it a light sanding before infusion, or infuse/glass when it's tacky.

    • @Helic4
      @Helic4 25 дней назад

      I think it also explains why the infusion was so slow, all the resin was being drawn in the foam and not towards the vacuum line. But not sure though

      I also don't like the 1350 for light wind, some people manage to wing with it but I don’t like the behaviour it has. I was surprised by the gong foil, it worked really well. I would like to stick to the Sabfoil brand (keep everything compatible) but don’t know which foil would match the Gong foil yet . My actual light wind foil is the 999 but it's not a real light wind foil.

       @yannickver I am in the same situation. I ride the Sabfoil 1250 in extremely light winds (and W1100, WM999 above), works well, but currently all the old front wings are no longer in the Sabfoil range. I wonder what the successors should be. The new HA foils have better glide but lower lift.

    Only 22 sessions.. this is not too bad of a time investment So, with a lake close by, one could learn pumpfoiling within a month or two for an hour per session, right? sounds super doable to me casually learning this during a Summer when there is no need for a wetsuit I am always looking to learn new sports/activities, thus looking now into pumpfoiling, I would also have not too bad of opportunities regarding foiling location (lake, river) Would you say the time and especially money investment (I have no idea about equipment, I am very scared of buying smth that turns out to be not the right choice for pumpfoiling and a lot of money would be wasted just leaving frustration) was worth it? Is it fun enough, or is it actually not that special or too restricted (I mean, in the end you can only ge a few secs/mins and that's it) and rather invest time in other activities? Or would you say hands down one of the coolest feelings you've experienced? I would like to hear your opinion :)

    • @yannickver
      @yannickver Месяц назад

      It’s fun to do but my main goal is to improve the board and foil control and to improve my pump technique so I can improve my wingfoil skills. It’s also an excuse to be on the water when there’s no wind 😊 I see it also as a challenge to find the technique to stay as long as possible on the foil. With my actual equipment I can pump for 2 min. I think there’s still some improvement, but I will never be able to pump for 30 min with my actual gear . Is it the coolest feeling? I would say no but it’s fun to do besides all the other watersports I do (kitefoiling, wingfoiling). The fact that there’s a challenge makes it fun for me. The fact that I can pumpfoil without wind makes it also interesting for me, improving my technique of wing- and kitefoiling by pumping. If you want to go for the long distance you will need another foil, I think this can also be fun (never tried it) and maybe one day I will try.

      @giuvude80 as said before: I only tried the 1350 leviathan pump setup once on wing, and that felt not good. But this is with a very small stab. Not meant for winging, only pumping. with the correct setup, I think it must also be usable. We will do this in the future. The sirus I only tried once for 20 minutes and it was ok. (was the footage here) I have a friend who uses the Sirus XL for light wind winging all the time for more than a year now, and he loves it. He also uses it for Supfoiling. He also has the sirus XXXL, but that is too big for winging and used for supfoil in very small waves. IN light wind those foils are very good, if you want something that turns faster, there are better options but you will lose low end.

      Yes, i'm used to slower gliders and had to adapt to the faster speed of this glider. My CG now is slightly more forward than the manual.

      yes, it's difficult and very physica. The slightest detail that changes from your setup, you have to adapt and relearn.

      You should not see this as a sport on it's own but as a training for other foil related sports like wingfoiling or surffoiling on days where there is no wind or waves... it improves your physical condition and your foil technique a lot.
