Lovely to see you supporting your dog, waiting during sniffing and not pushing your dog on. But could you attach the leash to the harness? It's so much more comfortable for the dog. The chain you have can tighten quickly, causing pain and injury in some cases. Your dog is nicely responsive.
@Sirius-9rb I do use the harness on all but our walks where we're likely to encounter other dogs. If you look closely, it is normally hanging loose. But, I understand your concern. I hope you understand how deeply I care for his well-being. Even if making sure he is safe is at the price of momentary discomfort on occasion.
@loriemccl3233 I understand your reasoning, but the problem is that if you encounter dogs and the chain becomes tight your dog is likely to have a negative experience. The more of thse he has, the more reactive he is likely to become. It seems that you have already put in some nice ground work, and you seem to have a calm dog. I've been working with reactive dogs professionally for many years, but most people who come to me for help have used check chains or prong collars, where the dog has received what he perceives to be a "punishment", and this is where reactivity starts. From what I can see on the video you're doing so much right. Everything hinges on the experience your dog has when he sees another dog. Giving him space, time to look calmly if the other dog is nice, (and avoiding if the other dog is not) are all key to your dog's development. You have a good basis, I just want to help you keep what you already have.
Hey..just got your video recommended..wow im surprised to see your dedication level and believing on yourself..just wow also it an interesting content (dog walk). watched many videos already haha. Nice to meet you :) . I became a fan to bravo haha
@@loriemccl3233 Aw..wish I could meet him in future haha just saw some of your old videos and happy to see bravo's growth and your knowledge sharing in each video:)
You are holding the leash attached to the neck. That choques the dog on his throat every time you pull. That’s why the harness is there, for God’s sake! It amazes me how pet owners don’t read anything about the welfare of their animals and do horrendous things to them just because they don’t take 5 minutes to read. The information is free in the internet!
I appreciate your reply. I am very aware of the difference between the choke collar and the harness. My failure in training means he could be in danger of death if I am unable to immediately stop him from stepping in front of one of the speeding cars with which we share the road on our walks. Other than our morning walks, where his unhesitating compliance is the best way for me to guarantee his safety, his harness is used. You may notice, that the use of that choke collar on his walks is rarely more than a brief jingle. I understand your concerns and often share them. Nonetheless, it often puts us at ease when we see the larger picture of the whole 2/4-legged family.
I thought he was a lab pup when he found me 6 years ago. The vet estimated that he was around 5 years old at that time. So, he's around 11 years, and no, I can't believe it either. He's my Forever Puppy.
Love his little walks. But he definitely loves a little detour into the grass 💞
@@paulwalker1793 Yes, he does!
Sometimes it's just peaceful walking the dog. Had a leonburger ourselves and would go for decent walks.
Always nice to have a walk with a friend 💕

When I search "shawlette," I get a bunch of open-front pieces. Like a "capelet."
