When you look up the word drunk from Acts 2:15 in Strong’s(G3184) it literally means drunken? So there is your precedence to base what we see today in church. I absolutely believe that there is a mocking spirit of this that comes from the enemy, I believe that when it’s from the Holy Spirit, it is very peaceful. When it is from the enemy it is very chaotic.

There had to be a resemblance of being drunk or under the influence when the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost. If you read acts 2 verse 15, it talks about them being drunk. So yes, it is very biblical, and it has nothing to do with the fruits of the spirit. The only time you see this happen is when Holy Spirit is moving amongst the church. People don’t just act like they’re drunk when they’re not engaging with the Holy Spirit. It is a sign and wonder that the Holy Spirit is present. Not to say that everyone is always going toappear drunk every time the Holy Spirit shows up. I completely believe that it was written in that manner, four these specific reasons.

I think another "victim", if you will, of pietism in American Evangelicalism is that the preoccupation with personal holiness has replaced (if not completely eradicated) our moral obligations for Christians to have Godly influence in the civic/public sphere. This is why our culture today is post-Christian and terribly sinful. God help us.
