I disagree, i believe evercade alpha is a great option for people like myself that want a retro arcade cab but with the added bonus of being able to run all the evercade carts. It is small but evercade is a l9ve letter to classic video games. This is far from a flop, some of us guys that cant afford the full size machines will see the 250 price tag and go for it.

The original machine is always the best but there is no way that I can 1 - fix them 2 - fit one through my door 3 - put it in the house without it being in the way 4 - spend thousands on a cab (or even know where to buy them) 5 - I’m a college student so this is self explanatory why i have 1ups lol It is a shame though a1up is making the most strange and bad decisions which makes me want to get originals more

They are a few thousand dollars 300 pounds Hard to get through doors And need special maintenance Yup It's best to go with 68 pound machines that cost less than 750.

Think you are wrong. A barcade is an accessible way of getting an arcade experience and this particular one offers the option of hundreds of games through curated carts. The Sanwa parts are also a bonus. If you already have a few Evercade carts and a bit of space for this to sit then it looks an excellent purchase. Appreciate you guys get other barcades much cheaper but across the Atlantic this is a decent price.

This is for people who collect Evercade. Evercade is for people who dont like to download roms and just want to play and collect old games for a decent price. The games come on a cart in a nice little plastic shel with an manuel. This machine allowes me to play Xeno Crisis, R-Type, In The Hunt, Duke Nukem 3d, Aligator Hunt and lots of other games on a table top Arcade. Nothing wrong with that. The only bad thing i can say about it is that there a two versions instead of just one. That means i wil not be able to own every game on Evercade. That blows because i had a complete collection until now and i wil not buy 2 of these.

I think the problem is usability. Arcade machines are the size they are because they are designed to be used by adult human beings. Everything is placed at the right height and spacing for an average adult to use comfortably. Make it smaller, and everything gets thrown off. You wouldn't want a game controller that had been scaled down, because they are designed to fit human hands, and scaling it down would break that 'compatibility' with the human hand. The 1UP machines have the same problem. You can get a riser to try to compensate for this to an extent, but it's still not right. It doesn't feel anything like playing a real arcade machine, and at that point, why bother when there are other ways to play these games? When the 1UP machines first came out, I thought it was a great idea. That was until I saw one set up in a store. My daughter was 7 or 8 at the time, and it was about the right size for her. It was on a riser too. I guess they look nice enough, and are a nice conversation piece, but they only really have novelty value in my opinion.

I like the idea... but that's about it. I have a ton of Evercade carts, but playing on the couch on the console or handheld is realistically what I'm going to do. The built-in selection is a bit lame and tying it to Capcom seems like a mistake. Like yeah, Street Fighter with that stick would be cool, but then you have to hook up a regular Evercade controller to play against anyone. If the screen had a vertical option for the all the shooters and different exclusives, then maybe. I just hope they didn't make too many of these. The little Atari Super Pocket looks like a better buy to me.

To me, it serves no purpose, unless you have nostalgia for arcades, which I don't. I have some nostalgia for certain games, but most of these aren't what I call interesting games. Sorry, I like certain evercade games, but to me with the handheld and consoles that connect to your TV, this brings nothing to the table.

I like using Arcade 1up machines myself I don't have a ton of room in my apartment. I can move them myself, as a shorter guy, I am the right height for them standing up. If you got the space and means, go nuts with your full size machines. I just find if it's taking up as much space as it does, it better play more than one game in my landscape. I agree getting 1-4 machines covering whatever needs you want and being done is plenty. I paid for my Xmen machine on Amazon brand new since that was the one I wanted, and I didn't know everything I know now, so that was where I started. After modding my Xmen machine I knew more of what I was doing and could make better decisions of what I wanted. I am still very happy with how much Xmen machine turned out, I just could gotten there for less if I did it again. In the US you can definitely find really good deals if you look for them. I was able to pick up a Rampage machine off FB market place for 250 with a riser and light up marquee already , which was much better deal. I converted the Rampage machine into a two player control panel with 8 action buttons since 3 players isn't realistic at that size. I made two extra USB ports(I had the original Marquee and worked into the panel below the control panel which looks so much better than the standard look.) Even after me completely modding this machine I was no where near price of a full size Arcade machine.

The price is the issue. I got the 32" a few years ago on sale at kohls so couple hundred bucks kohls cash too. Speakers are meh. Vibration is plastic rattling. But the sides and top of table are fantastic. Tons of good games but a ton of shit too. Hasn't been a top notch release since Risk. Stratego damn it. Cmon. Honestly its the best product A1UP has their name on. Tho it feels like its running on fumes with the junk releases lately.

As a transitional from arcade1up, i honestly wanted to get this as 1. you get a screen that you don't have to plug into, 2. You have probably the biggest library of games since the atgames legends ultimate (and with rumors of a flashcart for the evercade out in the wild, this could be definitive) and 3. It's a Niche. you don't need to gatekeep just because it isn't for you.

And now I can play my Evercade collection anywhere I go. I know how to emulate but I'm a massive fan of physical media, that's why I invested in Evercade.

I came in order to know what the problem was with the product, but you actually don't like the Evercade concept, which is OK, no problem with that. But the Evercade Alpha makes sense for the Evercade community. We already know, since the beginning, that there are better portable systems with access to thousands of games, but bought the handhelds for the licensed titles. We were OK with paying for these games, of course available for free illegally, but Evercade aims to a specific market made of stupid people many will think. I'm one of them. And I like the Evercade Alpha concept. I'll pay less than that, all their products go on sale every now and then, and don't have to buy more cartridges because I already have them.

Problem with evercade is the very cheap manufacturing. Had a tech guy see the inside the consoles and games and he laught and said, games are first to go and eventually the console. There's not even 10 years of life in them. I really sat back and thought shit I've spent hundreds & hundreds on this company and knowingly they know these parts won't last or flashdrives. And in 4 years their's many horror stories of people buying brand new carts or console and there dead on arrival . And of course updates that breaks everything.

    • @rosstee

Yeah, I love the concept of the Evercade and many of the games they've released, I even bought a VS. But I sold it again after a short time as the system and carts felt so cheap.

Talk about missing the point... You talking about getting a Steam Deck instead? Big price jump and more importantly that's an apples and pears argument. You are also directing people to get into tinkering and modding for a better experience. This is a plug n play product and that's the entire point. Your arguments are weak AF as to why you think this isn't going to do well.

I think you don't know the customers. Old gamers are the target with disposable income. Back in my competive fighting days I payed $150 for just a stick with Sanwa parts. This has an Evercade VS built in. I want to play some of the arcade titles with a joystick. You are speaking of the mod retro community we are the Evercade community. I have plenty of emulation full size arcades. I have played some games Evercade has I've never played and enjoyed a lot. I do think the deluxe edition is the way to go. I've enjoyed some of the Arcade 1Up countercade HATE the controls. This Alpha Countercade is a perfect fit for my office to play nostalgia titles. Do I think it's perfect NO. WiFi with online opponents for the Street Fighter cab a huge miss. HDMI out not really a problem for me. No hate but you mentioned it in your video so yes you are out of touch with the Evercade community.

I personally can't wait until this comes out. I think you are out of touch with physical media and arcade fans. Evercade has sold over 1 million cartridges. All of those games on the cartridges can easily be emulated, but a lot of people are buying them. They have a large fan base who love their products. You can't compare MyArcade to Evercade. MyArcade makes junk that is the reason their product are a fraction of the cost.

Missing Context, As an unfortunate owner of several Arcade1Up countercades, I can tell you, one of my major complaints is the display issues on them. It may sound silly when people tout the importance of screen angles, but this is a HUGE issue on the Arcade1Up countercades I own. From the extreme washout on the bigger original A1Up countercades to the horrible uniformity and discoloration issues on the smaller ones I own, I'm embarrassed to turn any of these on, as they look so bad, especially if you're not dead on playing them. Second issue I have with all countercades I've played is everything feels way too cramped to me, and I'm just playing with a joystick and a button or two on mine. Because I have 3/4 scale arcade machines available to me, the countercade downgrade in gameplay experience is just not worth it. Even if the Evercade Alpha was under $100 and had a great display, the cramped feel makes it a no go for me. Now for others who don't have the options I do, these might be right for them, so I'm happy there are more options for more players. I get that telling people to buy an ALU, or play on PC, or play any other number of ways instead, but countercades may be what some prefer. And I can tell you for me, I prefer to pay for the games I play. Now, companies have to present them in a format I want to play on, at a reasonable price, and take care to make sure everything plays correctly and show respect for the games to earn my dollar. And I do have to factor in space constraints as well. A perfect world isn't a reality, so I'm happy free emulation exists, but I prefer plug n' play licensed solutions where I don't have to do anything but turn something on and play, no setup, no configurations, no fuss, no muss. The first Arcade1Up countercades were $230 retail (US) and most Arcade1Up countercades when they first retail on their site are between $180 to $230. I don't recall ever seeing one go below $149 retail. What Evercade is doing here with the options and upgrades seem very comparable to what's on the market now and before, HOWEVER, I don't recommend paying over $100 for any countercade, because I don't feel the materials and compromised gameplay are worth more than that. As for the 3/4 scale home arcade crowd, I think there are enough who've integrated countercades into their spaces who will do so again with the Alpha. As for the Evercade crowd, I think they're going to eat this up. The Evercade fanbase has become larger than I could've imagined, and with some of their cartridges becoming highly collectable, and people investing in multiple of their systems to play them all, I think the Alpha will sell well. Time will tell, of course, because I agree, they're overpriced. I for one will be passing on the Evercade Alpha. vgv

The arcade market itself is already very small. I therefore don't think that Blaze is expecting sales as high as those of the EXP or the Super Pockets. However, the products will probably manage to attract new people to the arcade market. I find the Alphas very interesting as an entry-level product in the arcade sector. And who knows, maybe in 1-2 years there will also be larger arcade machines from Blaze.
