I love the way Lilith does her creeping, makes me laugh every time and that Lilith pick was so on point with her. The Sims were nice this month, looks like another stack of good books. I am hoping at some point to reread Wicked by Gregory Maguire so I can continue on because he has a prequel trilogy and he's coming out this year with a book called Elphie where it's about more of her childhood.

The Outsider was a 5 star for me last year, but for me Stephen King can do no wrong 😂

Jack is so cute! It's amazing the chaos such tiny creatures can create lol The first boarding school book that came to mind is The Broken Girls by Simone St. James.

I couldn't chose between two books with a boarding school, so I'll start with the first boarding school I ever read. The Secret Language by Ursula Nordstrom. Another one is Back Home by Michelle Magorian, which I have to mention just because of how much I love one of the movies based on it. Also, I have to comment on how cute your cat is. I love black cats.

What would happen if tougot the book of the month 1st 4 letters in the title prompt in May, since it only has 3 letters?

I love Jack helping, too cute! I will try to get to Dracula the Un-dead because it's also a TBR Vet for me as well, thank you for that suggestion. For Name that Book for a boarding school type book, I think Ace of Spades might be, definitely the Amari books, and probably The School for Good and Evil. Happy New Year and happy reading. Also, a series that I read when I was at least 8 and this series is older than me is called The Three Investigators, might be like The Hardy Boys, loved those books. ❤

Etiquette & Espionage had a boarding school.

Don't Let the Forest In and Where Sleeping Girls Lie are 2 books set in boarding schools. They were both nominees for the Goodreads Choice Awards this year.

I did a Hardy Boys vs. Nancy Drew, where I read the first two of each. Nancy is definitely superior, in my opinion. For boarding school I read A Deadly Education last year and will be continuing the series in February so that is what pops in mind. Happy New Year I hope your reads go well.

This book was fun and I think was a good pick for the buddy read! I did read the other possible buddy reads and I actually did not really like The Christmas Appeal because I did not like how it wrapped up. However, I did love The Christmas Guest and want to read more from Peter Swanson now, but I feel like that book would not be a book for everyone.

Unfortunately I really didn’t like this book but I had a lot of fun reading along with everyone so overall I’m happy I read it! Thank you for hosting this read along during a very hectic time of the year and I’m excited for future buddy reads in 2025 🎉

I was shocked when his head rolled out too. I was like 'what in the heckin heck!' So many theories as the book goes on. Also so fun to read a book with a character that has my name. Though I spell mine without the H. So Teresa instead of Theresa

I don’t know if it was just me but I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first book and the ending felt quite unsatisfying to me. It feels like a stretch to me for Ernest to be able to put it all together. Even knowing what happens at the end I don’t really understand all the “clues” we get each day. And the whole cable car monologue scene felt unnecessarily dramatic and bound to put him in danger.

I didnt guess it at all. 🎉 I tried reading the days in number order and it still didn't help. 😂 I really need to read the other two!

Congrats on 1000 subscribers! I really have no idea who the killer is but obviously it has to be one of the people who works there right? So there’s only a handful of people it could be. I’m glad the whole guillotine thing got explained because I really didn’t understand what happened there. My feeling is that there are some shady dealings going on behind the scene at this foundation. Maybe that has something to do with everything. I can’t wait to finish the book and see what happens.

I was happy to learn that I was correct about a trapdoor concealing the true "weapon" of Rylan's death. I still do not have any solid theories, but I still wonder if hypnotism will tie into Lyle's death and I am wondering if Flick is somehow involved.

Congrats on 1k subscribers! I just thought of this during the intro, when you were talking about a theory involving if Lyle actually wrote the word Christmas. Remember how Lyle had called to report a murder the night before? What if the murder he wanted to report is supposed to happen on Christmas? And he wrote Christmas in his blood as a warning? Oh! And a thought on the needle mark in Lyle’s arm. What if he was killed by air being injected into his bloodstream, then all the stabbing was done after he died as part of framing Erin? He did say the piece of glass he found could be from a syringe. The hypnotism is a good theory! I didn’t think of that for a reason Erin wouldn’t remember. And if she was hypnotized, did she actually kill Lyle, or maybe just see who did? We’re getting so close to the end!
