      sounds like it's a build-up into an eventual comeback to me tbh. Let's the writer get some space and develop other characters and makes it all the sweeter when he gets back into the ring for real ...assuming it gets that far, it's been a long-running manga so it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't get finished.

      @@miqvPLhow did you start i also want to start

    • @miqvPL
      @miqvPL Год назад

      @@BlackViking349 I weighted 118 kg (260 pounds) when I decided to go for it, I was very obese so first thing I did was to start with just walking 6 km a day. It resulted with a lot of blisters on my feet but I got through this. I removed sweet drinks from my diet, so replaced coke with coke zero, and lipton ice tea with sugar-free variants. I stopped eating snacks and only allowed myself to eat them on a cheat day (1/week on tuesdays). It allowed me to lose 6 kg of weight in 10-14 days so was a good start. Then I joined a boxing gym, thankfully one was 30 minute walk from my place or 10 min by the bus. Ran by a previous 3 times national champion so I knew from the start I was in good hands. They had a bunch of gloves I could use so I needed only shorts, tshirt and some shoes for a change. I was too ashamed of my shit stamina to go for group excersises so I paid for individual lessons 1/week on Mondays. On Wednesdays and Fridays I was taking walks (after some time went from 6km 8 km routes) and on Sunday morning I was going to the swimming pool to practice boxing footwork in water, coordination in general. After 3 months of that I was already below 100 kg weight and while I couldn't hold my ground in a sparring I noticed my stamina was around 5 times better than I started. I stopped being exhausting from the warmup excersises, I could do pad work in 3 minute rounds, around 6 rounds/pad training. I was very happy with myself. I still train individually every monday ( I have my training in 60 minutes), this month I also bought myself group lessons 2/week with medium-advanced group. I have my own gloves, I can spar pretty well and if I need to fight in a self defense situation I know I can KO regular people without issues. Looking back at it all I wish I went for group excersises a little bit earlier, training in a group is very fun, no one shames anyone else for their skills since we are all there to become better fighters, everyone has something to improve. I never met a negative person in our gym who would make fun of someone else's skills. At "worst" they are just concerned someone isn't performing at their best and ask if they can somehow help out. So check if you have a boxing gym where you live, check their credentials and reviews. If you wanna learn for free Tony Jeffries on youtube has a lot of instructional videos. Dude had a very long amateur career and short but undefeated pro career before his hand injury stopped his career. He's a good online coach if you have good willpower and motivation to learn at home. But it's best to go to a boxing gym since a good coach is gonna push you beyond your limits better than you are able to do it yourself. It isn't easy, it's pretty much exhausting in every sense of the word but trust me it's worth it. Boxing, even at my low level, made my life so much better. Since I started I went for several other combat sports & martial arts but nothing else gets close to boxing when it comes to intensity of training, even kyokushin karate isn't as fun & "hardcore".

  • @michaelsong5555
    @michaelsong5555 Год назад

    If anyone's been to the boxing gym and actually trained, then there's one thing that Hajime no Ippo didn't account for (and why you don't start with mitt punching) -- newbies can't punch accurately, and end up missing. But here, Ippo is super accurate with the punches. Then again, it won't be fun to watch him practice his aiming skills.

      can i ask what kind of beginner practices there are for aim?

    • @michaelsong5555
      @michaelsong5555 Год назад

      @@mlpb Sandbags. I'm sure other forms practice aim as well, but really, in order to increase the accuracy, you need to punch frequently and actually hit something. And sandbags are ideal for that, because it is round, and if your aim is off (left/right), then your fist will sort of slide, or make the sandbag spin. People usually don't have problem aiming for up/down. In addition, beginners often punch without putting enough strength on their wrist, which is why beginners often injure their wrist if they punch without thinking. Again, sandbag is ideal for that, although they should practice with lighter-weight sandbags to not hurt themselves.
