Today Eddie is sharing more wisdom from the book Never Split the Difference. When you’re in a confrontational situation and you don’t regulate your anger, your body begins to release stress hormones that will reduce your brain’s ability to process information effectively. You’ll be less able to empathize, less able to assess the situation. Tyler points out that repeated, continual inability to ...

Today Eddie once again shares his impressive vocabulary. Today’s word of the day is isopraxism. In essence, it means mirroring. When you repeat back to someone their own words or behavior, you’re engaging in isopraxism. Eddie mentions that this kind of mirroring can increase as your sense of connection to people. It’s not about awkwardly mimicking them. It’s about falling into their patterns of...

Hello guys!! This is Ramakrishna, working as project manager in steel detailing services. I follow u guys in linkedin and in here as well. I like ur videos. Those are cool!! Keep going. I just want to request you to conduct a survey or start a poll on what are the biggest challenges that steel construction is facing from many detailing companies these days!! Just think about it!!
Hello Sir, Your RUclips content is truly impressive! After a thorough review, I noticed some areas for enhancement, such as thumbnails and tag optimization, that could significantly boost your reach. I’d be excited to discuss ways to help your channel expand.
thanks for another interesting and educational episode, even if it is a revisit
This shi had me dying 🤣
I am learning so much from your podcasts about the construction industry. Thanks for all the hard work creating this content. See ya next week.
You missed the point that Paxton was only 24 yrs old.......😑 Think about it..... 24 😲!
Enjoyed listening to this one…especially since Jay and I have opposite careers…me going from private sector to public and him going from public sector to private. I also want to say, how have Eddie and I never talked about the AthHalf??? ;)
Did Eddie tell Tyler he's proud of him for Storybuilder in his own way?
As an electrician you have to do excavation I was digging in 97 degree weather all week to bury pvc pipe these guys have no clue what they are talking about
My favorite part was every time Tyler Cook talked. He is so knowledgeable and wise :)
thanks for letting me know how to be born into a family company
Nice work gents
I was first introduced to detailed discussions on family business from Kevin Swanson's Family Economic Conference in Denver way back in 2013 or 14. Kevin always points out how Biblical models of work and business was family centered, or oikonomia, which is where we get the word economics from. They talked about lawn care, accounting, pet sitting, etc. Kevin also pointed out the importance of generational wealth. From then on, I prayed about doing that in my own life in mechanical design. Today my oldest son's in plumbing school and my others are really gearing up to follow that path as well (or carpentry or electrical). I've emphasized the importance of avoiding starting from scratch, by inheriting a working model. My business has grown tremendously and is well equipped now to take on helpers who will grow up into captains. Professionally, this is the best thing that's happened to me better than getting an engineering degree.
I came here to learn about the script but realized I already import the instruction page(s) with custom status and rules for users prior to uploading to Studio. Sorry, "Cover Page" 😁
Keep doing, bro 🎉
Nick highlights a significant contradiction in the automotive industry: rushed design schedules result in poor-quality drawings, yet there's still an expectation for high-quality construction drawings. This disconnect indicates a need for more realistic project timelines. As MEP engineers, we're often tasked with creating drawings that are just enough to get permits, but then we face criticism for minor coordination issues. It seems Nick is frustrated with the quality of the drawings but acknowledges that the market generally only supports basic permit drawings. The level of detail he expects for his construction team requires more time and investment-you can't enter a Honda Civic in an Indy car race and expect to win. If owners can't extend deadlines or increase budgets, we raise the yellow flag and advise them to prepare for higher costs due to inevitable change orders due to the inevitable "light switch in a glass wall" you will find on the drawings. The green flag is when the developer intentionally increases contingency budgets in advance, accounting for the risk they decided to take on associated with tight schedules and limited budgets. Nick's insights are crucial as they illustrate the challenges designers face in understanding on-site realities. Ultimately, the best approach in this industry is to hire professionals with specific experience in the projects they are building and designing. Great episode!
Completely unrelated, but your twitter link is broken in your bio! Tight podcast by the way
The "I did it per the plans" team battles the "You didn't read the specifications" team
Yup! Every time!
Good stuff! It's like therapy listening to this. This is the stuff that rattles around in my brain.
Live by FIO-GID (Figure It Out and Get It Done)! Whining only has space for as long as it brings awareness to a potential issue, but then it's time to work toward a solution.
We got this! 😎
Its actually really bad.

Just to address the insurance issue in high school shop classes. I teach Woods & Construction and we have are students and parents sign a waiver. The individual students health insurance usually pays for injuries, which are few. Our PE classes have more injuries by far.
This information is very useful thanks for this keep posting😊😊
per.... LOL , love the work you guys do .... keep it up
The Line is a scam. It's not possible. For one thing, how could you build a 500m high skyscraper, 200m wide for less than $5 billion per mile? It's fantasy.

Hi there
Ok sure, should you calculate in software design for robot to know where the holes are as man using laser. How about cost man vs machine, robot up and down floors, also man can use a scissor lift. It stupid comparison.
All JAIBOT jobs pull data from the design model. All JAIBOT needs is a file with the anchor drill hole locations. JAIBOT is less then 3ft wide, fits through standard doors and goes up and down via the man lift, just like everyone else.
Loved the show, fantastic banter and looks very professional. As a Master locksmith I get asked to pick up after a lot of subs. You've definitely got a new subscriber in me.
Good word, brothers! Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas 🙏 💙 🎁 ✨⭐️✨
Oh, man! This is a good word. So true! But hey, the truth hurts. Keep up the good work guys. Have a great weekend. 😎
Wow, this brought back some memories.
This is a double edged sword statement.. he did mention to not be a push over but you got to know who you’re dealing with when trying to be helpful. Sometimes you try to be helpful and a team player and as soon as you say no due to being too much, some people will throw you under the bus right away
Rev 11? I'm on Rev R, S, T before Rev 1 IFC, followed by Rev 2, 3, ..., 8 (design build)
