Custom Farmer X w/ 2024 Limited Edition Scales
Turned my Victorinox 2024 Limited Edition Pioneer X into a Farmer X. Acid Etched all the springs and tools and gave them a Brass Wash.

Thank you Sir! It's actually quite easy, I have a large pill bottle that has a bunch of cut up pieces of brass rod in it, that I then put the tools in one at a time and shake until you get the desired look you want. This is done after the acid etching of course.
Do you reuse the original pins or replace them completely?
99% of the time I replace them. On this one, I reused pins from a Farmer X since they were long enough.

Great video buddy! What spring did you use for the spyderco blade? What mods do you have to do to put the openers on the blade layer?
Thanks for the compliment! For the Spyderco blade I used a scissor spring that doesn't have the back tool. For the Bottle opener and small blade, I used an opener layer spring. I think I had to grind the spring a little to fit the bottle opener, as it's normally on the other side.
What acid did you use to get that "dark black" tools? And for how long and how many times? P.s. great work maestro!
Thank you! I use Ferric chloride mixed with distilled water, about 50/50. Paint the pivot area with finger nail polish and then leave them submerged for a couple minutes then rinse. Repeat until desired darkness is achieved!

I'm not sure if it's necessary after the acid etch, but I would also resharpen the can opener and the reamer, just because I love what a shiny edge looks like on a dark tool.
I've tested the can openers and awls after acid etching and haven't noticed any difference, but your right, it would look better!

Yeah, I wish they would bring the Walker model back. The spring used is the regular blade spring with no back tool.

What acid did you use and how long were those tools in the acid? Do you put all of the tools in the acid at the same time? Do you brass wash by hand or you have a some kind of machine? Can you brass wash all of the tools at the same time or one by one? A lot of questions, i know.....

I use Ferric Chloride and Distilled Water at 50/50 ratio. Dip each tool for about 5 minutes, rinse and repeat to the desired darkness. There is prep work involved, tools have to be clean and free of oil and greese, and then use finger nail polish on the pivot areas so that they remain the dimensions they atevsupposed to be and smooth. I have 3 jars and can usually get 2 tools in each jar. For the brass wash, I do each individually in a container and shake to desired look.
